Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all,

i have a problem with my SpringsfromLine component.

I have a curve, which i am bending ( see picture).

It is divided in 9 segmentes. It works well.

BUT when i change the numbers of the division it goes totally crazy...

What do i have to do with the rest length and the connection ?

Thanks a lot ! :)

Gh file is attached

Hi.

Check attached. I've added "Align" force and reduced bend and unary force.

Hello Kim,

thanks a lot :)
But it doesnt work ..? :(

when i open the file gh tells me, that i don't have the "custom preview lineweights"
could this be the problem ?

at the moment when i start the simulation the points onley drop down a bit, but actually dont bend ?...

No, it's one of preview component fr "Human" plug-in.

And I have no ploblem with mine.

hm, strange..
exactly this file right ?

Do you know what could be the problem ?

Did you activate the solver? And turn on the preview of interporate curve.

ahh yess, no it works. Did a stupide mistake... :D
Thanks a lot :)

When i turn the division now for example to 80 i have to play with the sliders to get a nice shape, there is no smarter solution right ?

Hi Zeno,

could you explain a little more about what you are trying to do here?

Is it a simulation of an actual physical system?

Hi Daniel,

yes for sure:

I try to create a futuristic building for university...
My starting position are standing stripes, which i want to bend with, more or less, realistic physical characteristics.

I want to create rooms, by colliding the stripes. ( see image of my
physicall modell).

My main problem now is, that i don't get the stripes/lines to collide with eachother.
In the attached file for example i want to collide the falling linies with the already baked ones, to creat a roof.

Thanks for your help! :)

Does this help?

It is fun to play with:

(much sped up here- all the collisions slow things down considerably)

Wow thats awesome :)
But for me, i have to less controll... :/
Isn't it possible to collide the lines in my file with the baked ones ? That would be pretty helpfull i think

To collide with existing fixed lines, you'd need to divide them into segments in the same way as the 'live' ones in the above file, and input them into the collider component, and also anchor all their vertices.

Hi Daniel,

It's not that easy like i tried here right ? What did i wrong ?

P.S.
sorry for being so annoying, but i am pretty new on grasshopper and get stuked all the time...

Thanks a lot for all your help :)
