Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I jjust downloaded rhino 5 beta (evaluation version) to try the kinect feature of firefly extension.

Basic firefly component are working great but I can't find the kinect skeleton one.

I followed the installaton guide step by step.

At first I dowloaded the lastest kinect SDK which is 1.0 version. Installations instructions are speaking about 1.0 beta 2 sdk. So I used this one in place of the lastest .

But Kinect component is still not in the toolbar.

Installation files don't seem to be locked in the "properties" panel.

If someone is in front of the same issue, thanks for helping....

No matter what type of xbox you're using you need to install the kinect for windows sdk. I'm using an xbox kinect as well and this driver worked for me: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/develop/developer-d...

could you find Firefly Kinect 0.0004?
I have dropped in a kinect depth component and conected it to a
"kinect depth to point", but  my kinect didn't stop blinking  green. I
have connected a timer, too. Can you please send me a working sample
.gh file?
thank you

No, I couldn't find that version of Firefly Kinect, I tried all other combinations of different Kinect SDK and Firefly Kinect though.

Kinect SDK 1.6 and Firefly Kinect 0.0003 worked for me. A different combination might work for you.

the LED would never change color from green, I meant that you would see a red glare in the IR sensor.

can you get your kinect to work on microsoft developer toolkit for kinect?

I have attached a simple grasshopper definition that works for me, I didn't use a timer, but you can go ahead and plug one in.

ı have uninstalled opensource drivers and now i can use kinect camera in other software, in grasshopper i saw firefly kinect icons, web camera icon is working, only kinect blinking green, doesnt show anything. is it possible to send me a working sample?

Sorry, I'm only just now seeing this thread.  Hopefully I can clarify a few points.  It seems that when Microsoft upgraded the Kinect SDK to v.1.6, they decided not to support the Kinect Xbox sensor... it now only supports the Microsoft Kinect sensor (which is $100 more)... at least this is as far as I can tell.  SO, if you're using the Xbox sensor, then you need to download the Kinect SDK v1.5 (not the latest version).  This can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/develop/developer-d....  Scroll down on the right hand side to the area where it says Previous Versions.

I think if you download the previous version (1.5) and have the Kinect 0.0004 installed, then it should work.  I recently tested my current build last week, using the 1.5 driver and all worked well... so hopefully we can get this working.

Thank you Andy, i can see xbox kinect sensor with already installed microsoft SDK.
But I couldn't find kinect 0.0004. Would you please show me where this new version to download? I can see in Firefly page only two installation files for 32 and for 64 bit.
Thanks

Dear Andy and Morteza,

With your help I have solved it, thanks.

When I saw under "components folder" a file "Microsoft.Kinect.dll" (167 KB)

and looked at other kinect software like faceshift, I have found an other file with the same name. Change the name and copy other "Microsoft.Kinect.dll" (143 Kb) to the components folder:   problem is solved.

I can see now kinect camera in Fireflay screen, I am happy.

cheers!

hi all,

is anyone running this configuration successfully in a virtual machine?

i try to get my kinect xbox 360 sensor conected to win 7 in parallels, but it won't work at all.

btw, thank for all those great tools andy!
