you may know, PCS (from now I will call polar coordinate system with PCS, and cartesian one with CCS) describes point position with 2 values (like x and y in CCS) which are r and theta(r,theta). r is for distance from PCS center, theta is angular dimension which is in 0 to 360 or 0 to 2*pi domain.
To hark back to David's guide line - here it is replaced with guide circle.
Why to sort points like this ? As usual, one image tells more...
Here is logic behind all this stuff :
Find an average point of all given points*
Search for furthest point from an average point*
Create a circle with center at average point and radius = distance from average point to furthest point*
*Steps 1-3 can be replaced with custom hand-made circle, I decided to automate it that way.
For each point find closest point on circle - this will be used for finding theta value
For each point find distance to average point - this is r value
To overcome problem with same theta (t) values (like same x values in CCS), instead of multiplying by 1000, we will use a new create set component. This component creates set of integers, each one representing one unique input value. So if points A, B, C, D, E are (r,theta) :
A (1, 30)
B (2, 30)
C (3, 30)
D (1, 45)
E (1, 60)
Then create set will output list of integers = 0,0,0,1,2 (same theta for A, B, C other theta for D and E). Now its getting really easy - remap r values to domain 0 to 0.5 (or any less then 1), and add integers from create set component to remapped r values.
7. So what we have now is list of floating point numbers : A=0, B=0.25, C=0.5, D=1, E=2
Profit of remapping is that r values will never affect integers representing theta values - and all the information is stored in one floating point number ! By sorting these values we will obtain proper order of points - to complete this, we need to sort points parallel with values.
What's really cool about polar sorting - there could be any amount of points, but polyline connecting all of them will never self-intersect. Probably there is some relation with 2d convex hull.…

Descriptions
Ladybug + Honeybee
Ladybug and Honeybee are open source environmental plugins for Grasshopper that help architects and engineers create an environmentally-conscious architectural design.
Ladybug imports standard EnergyPlus Weather files (.EPW) into Grasshopper and provides a variety of 3D interactive graphics to support the decision-making process during the initial stages of design. The plugin also provides further support for designers as they test their initial design options with radiation, sunlight-hour, and shading analyses. Integration with Grasshopper allows for an almost instantaneous feedback and, since the plugin runs within the design environment, the information and analyses are interactive.
Honeybee connects Grasshopper3D to EnergyPlus, Radiance, Daysim and OpenStudio for building energy and daylighting simulation. The Honeybee project intends to make many of the features of these simulation tools available in a parametric way. Just as users have made changes to geometry for years in Grasshopper, now users can parameterize system types, zoning schemes, schedules of operation, daylight sensor placement and controls - all of the “hardcore” simulation parameters that have never been exposed to parametric modeling tools.

he "source_" = 0 (SRTMGL1) is limited to 60 degrees North. The bug is fixed. Check the attached file.
Thank you for posting the link to ArcticDEM! I was not aware of it, it certainly looks very intersting! The 2 meter resolution also sounds wonderful!
Gismo at the moment only generates terrain and underwater terrain from three upper mentioned sources: SRTMGL1, AW3D30, GMRT.
https://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtmhttps://www.eorc.jaxa.jp/ALOS/en/aw3d30https://www.gmrt.org/services
The reson for this is because all thre of them are supported throug opentopography.org's query terrain web service, which enables to get the DEM data only for defined boundaries (in Gismo's case the _location and the radius_ inputs). This means that the terrain model is automatically generated by just defining these two inputs. The same principle is followed for openstreetmap shapes - automatic generation for given two inputs.
Geting DEM from services as ArcticDEM, would require finding the appropriate DEM tile containing the desired _location, downloading it manually and then loading it to Gismo.Even though this is possible and "under the hood" Gismo and MapWinGIS have methods capable of performing such task, I am still reluctant to do it. My assumption is that it may create a number of questions about reprojections, and non-alignment caused by the use of different coordinate reference systems. But if this feature is asked from a certain number of users, I assume that in the end I would have to provide it.
Let me know if the upper used "source_" = 1 (resolution 20 to 30 meters) fulfils your current terrain requirements.…

and diffuse radiation for 365 days at noon (12:30)
As you can see there are some bumps that I have discarded as dependant of geometry (Did simulations with different geometries even with just an horizontal surface to analyse and nothing else.) Also discarded from the solar position since the bumps happen in different days as you may see in the graph. I have also tested it with Diva and honeybee so I guess it has to be with RADIANCE. I got this data reading the illuminance files from an annual daylight simulation.
I guess it has something to be with how RADIANCE transform radiation to luminance (luminance = (RED*.263 + GREEN*.655 + BLUE*.082) * 179) And how it determines the values Red, green and blue of the spectrum for a determined solar radiation. I guess, because I was unable to learn how RADIANCE calculates this spectrum, that it has to be dependant of the radiation and solar position with a quite large difference of spectrum.
Normally this bumps are hiden behing the variation of radiation over the year, and I guess that the tool was not designed to have such unrealistic constant radiation, but I would like to know why this happens.
Can anyone help? Any clue is welcome!
Thank you.

its way into parametric design on 24th February – 2nd March 2014. The workshop is designed to fulfill students' as well as professionals' requirements. The exceptional 30 seat workshop is part of the regular series of events called Parametric Bratislava, which is itself a unique activity in the central-european space. One week long workshop focused on architectural form-making, usage of digital techniques of parametric design is going to lead participants to the new approaches in both, design and architecture. ECOTYPE workshop is going to take place on 24th February – 2nd March 2014 (1 day optional Crash course + 6 days main course) at the Faculty of architecture, Slovak University of Technology. Renowned Serbian experts from Grupa Arhitekata Jelica Jovanović and Dragana Petrović are going to join forces with Italian Noumena architects Aldo Sollazzo and Iker Mugarra Flores to bring together the natural and the digital. The workshop is going to look into digital sensing structure subsystems, constituted by associative simulations of the relations between tectonics and the environment in which human activities take place according to specific programs. It is going to provide and control a constant flow of information about the changing internal and external conditions which is processed by a computational subsystem articulated by Rhinoceros 5 ( NURBS-based 3D modeling software) + Grasshopper 3D & Sub-Plugins (generative computation tools). Through these means new design opportunities are going to be explored. The resulting proposal challenges conventions and the way that design is conceived, stepping away from linear process and embracing holistic approaches. ECOTYPE workshop is meant for intermediate Grasshopper users. For the newcomers there is going to be available an optional one day Rhinoceros 3D + Grasshopper Crash course with Ján Pernecký (rese arch) and Fabio Palvelli (3D-Dreaming.com). The beginners are going to learn basic NURBS modelling, import/export techniques, best drafting practices and basic Grasshopper scripting – workflow, parameters, components, data structures, attractors, surface subdivision, mathematical and logical operations. - Aldo Sollazzo focuses on exploring critical issues in architecture, design, and urbanism through parametric design, scripting, and fabrication strategies.
- Iker Mugarra Flores is mainly specialized in advanced geometries and logics, prototyping and fabrication, environmental morphologies and holistic approaches to large and small scale strategic design ecologies.
- Jelica Jovanović is within Docomomo working on proposals for the protection and sustainable preservation policies of the modern movement architecture in Serbia.
- Dragana Petrović specializes on Bioclimatic design in Architecture.
- Ján Pernecký - Architect, researcher, curator, programmer, organizer.
- Fabio Palvelli - Architect, designer, researcher and publisher of architectural projects, workshop organizer. ECOTYPE's approach is focused on the architectural view of the geometry. The participants are going to get acquainted with a vital tools for producing algorithm-driven shapes with a strong sustainable concept.
