Heatherwick studio will present two projects covering the topic of designing, making and collaborating through computational tools. Heatherwick’s Geometry and Computational Design team will go through the computational processes behind design and making in the studio concentrating on two projects, Vessel in New York with a focus on driving the geometry and Al Fayah Park in Abu Dhabi with a focus on Form Finding and working with collaborative tools.
AKT II's presentation will explore a series of examples where this new approach was experimented, tested and improved, the Al Fayah Park in collaboration with Heatherwick studio and the 2016 Serpentine Pavilion with BIG, and more.

The adoption of digital fabrication in the creative industries continues to accelerate as the potential for innovation and creative expression using robotics is being harnessed. ROB|ARCH2016 will provide hands-on experience with the most recent robotic technologies as well as a platform for dissemination and an opportunity for researchers and industry to exchange expertise, explore methods, compare techniques and forge new connections.
ROB|ARCH is a bi-annual conference series on the use of robots and robotic fabrication in architecture, art and design. Initiated by the Association for Robots in Architecture it aims to link industry with cutting edge research institutions. In 2012 the conference was run by its founders in Vienna (Austria), it was then hosted by the University of Michigan (USA) in 2014. In 2016 the conference will travel to Australia where The Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at The University of Sydney is proud to be the host of the conference.
ROB|ARCH2016 seeks to bring together architects, artists, designers, fabricators, and industry leaders. The organisers of ROB|ARCH2016 invite authors to submit papers with original research relating to the use of robots in architecture, art, and design. making architecture. During a workshop we will develop a workflow from modelling software Rhinoceros3D and its Parametric plugin Grasshopper3D to gaming engine Unreal Engine 4.12. We will develop algorithms for temporary structures, baked them to geometry and import these to virtual reality. At the end, we will bring 1:1 scaled environment revived with HTC Vive and Oculus. Users will interact with our projects. Abandoned industrial zone is our environment, our imagined location. Our playground. 15 projects from 15 students, walkable in virtual reality is our goal at the workshop. We will go from scripting, modeling and texturing to scripting with blueprints in gaming engine, so some advanced skills of modeling are needed. However, they are not mandatory, so bring your ideas and motivation for hard work and you are in. We will help you develop your ideas. But be careful what you wish, it could be life changing....
