The event will be in two parts, a four day Workshop 14-17 July, and a public conference beginning with Talkshop 18 July, followed by a Symposium 19 July. The event follows the format of the highly successful preceding events sg2010 Barcelona, sg2011 Copenhagen, sg2012 Troy, and sg2013 London.

URBAN COMPACTION
Large cities thrive on density and diversity. But beyond the energy and pollution advantages of the elevator over the automobile, complex issues are at play in concentrating population and built infrastructure in contemporary high-rise cities. How do you meet the challenges of system design for high quality compact urban environments?
Designing for high and increasing density in cities is a complex and wicked problem that calls for innovative approaches to modelling in diverse areas of the city’s dynamics.

The SG Workshop is a unique creative cauldron attracting attendees from across the world of academia, professional practice as well as many of the brightest students. The Workshop is open to 100 applicants who come together for four intensive days of design and collaboration.
The annual Workshop is organised around Clusters. Clusters are hubs of expertise comprising of people, knowledge, tools, materials and machines. The Clusters provide a focus for Workshop participants working together, within a common framework.

CONFERENCE
Talkshop Conference Day One
After four intense days of innovative work, the first day of the conference, the Talkshop, offers an opportunity for critical reflection on what has been accomplished in the Workshop. Talkshop will be an opportunity to open debates, pose questions, challenge orthodoxies, and propose new ideas.
Talkshop will feature informal and open discussions between Cluster participants, leading practitioners and emerging talents in digital design, offering inside perspectives on how the landscape of computational design is reshaping built form.
Symposium Conference Day Two
The second day of the conference, the Symposium, will feature invited keynote speakers showcasing major projects and research from around the globe that mark out the territory of the year's Challenge. The Symposium is a unique opportunity to hear insights into the challenges ahead for the discipline.
Interwoven throughout the day will be reports and highlights from each Workshop Cluster, giving an opportunity to view work created during the previous four days of intensive collaboration, design and development.

of curved surfaces, its fabrication methods are still a challenge especially on the level of complex surfaces and large scale assemblies. Mathematical surfaces in general and hyperbolic paraboloids (Hypars) in particular embed neverending opportunities for planar construction techniques. The ancient surface of Hypars is one of the most interesting mathematical forms for architects from quantitative structural optimization to qualitative ornaments. Hypars have been used extensively in the works of avant-garde architects including: Gaudi, the Philips pavilion of le Corbusier, Shell structures of Felix Candela and Frei Otto tensile structures, as well as, many contemporary architects. Hypars workshop aims to develop the computational design techniques of complex organizations of hyperbolic surfaces from the structural to the ornamental scale in respect to the planar fabrication methods. The mathematical and geometrical qualities of ruled surfaces will be explored in parallel to material and assembly logic of planar elements for 1:1 prototype of an outdoor canopy in Alexandria. Geometrical properties of Hypars will be coded on the platform of Rhino and Grasshopper while the physical prototypes will be in wood and paper which offer an integrated and intuitive understanding of complex geometries and physical relationships. trl + X shortcuts.
When i ie. type ctrl + Z it just does it in the rhino window instead of the grasshopper window and when i press space when an item is selected nothing happens.
I am running 64-bit rhino on Windowns 10 on a bootcamp macbook pro from 2014 with a danish keyboard.
i have tried switching keyboard language in windows settings, but nothing works. I have also checked the shortcut settings in grasshopper and they are all on.
I am very new to grasshopper. haven't spend more than 3 hours in the program. So maybe i am just overlooking something really oblivious.
Hope there is anyone who can help :-)

A 5 day Design-Based Research Workshop exploring new techniques in Digital Architecture/Fabrication, with a specific focus on the use of generative systems and parametric modeling as tools for creative expression.
Our ultimate goal is to increasing the efficiency of utilizing digital tools in parallel with geometric performance of the primitive design agent.
+ + CONCEPT
Fashion and Architecture are both based on basic life necessities – clothing and shelter.
However, they are also forms of self-expression – for both creators and consumers.
Both fashion and architecture affect our emotional being in many ways.
The agenda of this workshop is to investigate on the overlap between these two areas of design, art & fashion.
Fashion and architecture express ideas of personal, social and cultural identity, reflecting the concerns of the user and the ambition of the age. Their relationship is a symbiotic one and throughout history, clothing and buildings have echoed each other in form and appearance. This only seems natural as they not only share the primary function of providing shelter and protection for the body, but also because they both create space and volume out of flat, two-dimensional materials.
While they have much in common, they are also intrinsically different – address the human scale, but the proportions, sizes and shapes differ enormously.
+ + + OBJECTIVES
So far, Architects have been using techniques such as folding, bending etc. to create space, structural roofs or different other structural shapes.
The agenda of this workshop goes further with the investigation of algorithmic thinking through generative tools Integrated in design.
The challenge is creating a bridge that connects these two areas of design, architecture and fashion that perform at two opposite scales.
+ + + + TECHNICAL BRIEF
In the early stages physical models and low-tech strategies will be used, allowing the participants to gain a greater understanding of materials, fabrication and assembly methods as well as simple, yet pragmatic structural solutions.

U Delft)Abstract: There are a few theories that describe and explain the role of spatial arrangement on the social interactions of people in built environments, best known of which is called Space Syntax. The term syntax, taken from linguistics, here refers to the [spatial] structure of the whole, as opposed to morphology, which looks at the qualities of individual items. Using these theories, we can analyze existing spatial configurations and in a way measure their socio-spatial performance. However, theories and methods for systematically generating spatial arrangements of certain properties are rare or not put into practice. Combining analytic theories (mostly based on graph theory) with the generation of geometry is at the core of the workshop. In this workshop, we will introduce computational methodologies that can help in generating spaces with known syntactic properties.
