ologies and large-scale prototyping techniques from previous years, while bringing together a range of experts from internationally acclaimed academic institutions and practices, Architectural Association, Zaha Hadid Architects, among others.
AA Istanbul Visiting School will investigate the inherent associations between form, material, and structure through the rigorous implementation of innovative design and fabrication techniques. Computational methods for design, analysis, and fabrication will be coupled with physical experimentation. The key objective of AA Istanbul Visiting School will comprise the design and fabrication of a one-to-one scale prototype realized by the use of robotic fabrication techniques.
The programme will be formulated as a two-phase process:
Stage 1: Participants will gain an insight of material processes, computational methods, and various fabrication techniques, culminating with core concepts related to complexity in design practices. During this stage, basic and advanced tutorials on generative design algorithms and analysis tools will be provided.
Stage 2: Participants will propose design interventions based on the skills and knowledge gained during the first stage. Study models of various scales will be produced, finally followed by the robotic fabrication and assembly of a full scale working prototype which unifies the design goals of the programme.
Prominent features of the programme / skills developed:
Participants will be part of an active learning environment where the large tutor to student ratio (4:1) allows for personalized tutorials and debates.
The toolset of AA Istanbul includes but is not limited to Rhinoceros and Grasshopper, as well as analysis software.
Participants will have access to advanced digital fabrication tools.
Robotic design and fabrication processes will formulate the physical prototyping phase of the programme.
Eligibility
The workshop is open to current architecture, structural engineering, and design students, PhD candidates and young professionals. Prior software knowledge is not required.
Accreditation
Participants receive the AA Visiting School Certificate with the completion of the Programme.

lite’ of education that promotes the Architectural Association’s exclusive, intensive form of teaching and learning around the country. AA Greece VS aims on visiting a different city each year and construct a single large-scale model which will act as an active nod of communication among the various locations.
In 2014, the School will initiate its design agenda with an architectural approach that is focused on the aspect of connection. The city of Patras which is the starting node of AA Greece VS, was chosen by the European Commission to be the European Capital of Culture for the year 2006. The concept of the event revolved around the main theme of "Bridges" and "Dialogues", drawing benefit from the city's rich history and its position as a "Gate to the West", to underline the essence of the productive interaction of culture and civilizations in Europe. The AA Greece Visiting School investigates how well existing buildings with various sightlines and variant spatial grammars perform according to human perception. In sync with the flexible and adaptive concept of parasitical structures, the research focuses on the making of transformable large-scale creations that accentuate prominent architectural features of existing buildings. The research looks at how cultural factors, specific preferences, experiences, and expectations can lead to the transformation of architectural parasitical structures.

instead of ballooning outwards, just puffing upwards.
THIS WILL WORK! Creating the mesh springs is only three seconds for 200X200 and the Unary Force is still milliseconds. Only Kangaroo takes an initiation time then cycles rapidly (0.5 seconds each) and it only takes a few cycles, maybe a dozen or two.
There is considerable 3D aliasing from the 2D mesh crudeness.
Now, to best Laurent's scheme, let's double down to 400X400. First I disable Kangaroo, and the timer. The preparation takes...FOREVER....and...ever...4.6 minutes to cull the points is all, a trivial step there is likely a better strategy for than finding the ones on the inside then using those to cull duplicates from the whole collection. The springs only took 12 seconds and the forces again milliseconds.
Kangaroo, to initialize takes...after hitting the reset button to start it...over 15 minutes and counting...well 400X400 is 160K vertices and Rhino tends to bog down at 30K points...but it was done in 30 minutes. Then I enable the timer and each cycle takes...uh...it's not in any error mode but nothing is happening past a very faint first automatic cycle that shows in the mesh...yet no CPU power is being used by Rhino...well...it's simply not running...ah, well, there's just a dummy delay of another 5 minutes and then the cycles take 2.7 seconds...what a stupid delay that was not using CPU power.
Now that it's cycling, can I change the stiffness in real time, usually I can...well, no, I seem to be back in the 5 minute delay, but not the 30 minutes interface-locking one...still waiting. Here is a 1/4 scale height model of the above output:
Time's up, life goes on. The aliasing and slow speed make it unworkable except for little logos or something. Some math and parallel processing are needed?

2:同じファンクション内のdist = rs.Distance(self.pos,b.pos)についてですが

s for architectural design, has been heralded as the new paradigm in architecture for the last decade. Digital design techniques coupled with rapid prototyping have permeated architectural education and practice at all levels. But, besides the endless rhetoric and baseless forms, what can these methods actually contribute to the field? What is the scope of their use?
This workshop seeks to answer these questions by investigating surfaces, surface mathematics and manipulations, and using this investigation to introduce students to the issues of design and fabrication of artifacts.
The workshop will thus introduce participants to the basic concepts for design utilizing scripting techniques, through the exploration of the Python language for Rhinoceros. Together with the study of syntax, data types and scripting techniques the focus will be put on the understanding of the digital tools in relation with the common practice and the ways to approach problems a designer might encounter while using them.
