s the "Surface Populating" definition: I manage to populate my geometry over the surface, but after I bake it, I have to delete the boxes that define my components limits as well! Is there any way of populating and baking only the chosen component, without having to delete the boxes afterwards?
Secondly:
Basically: I am trying to cover a surface with two types of components [ an open one and a closed one] , which will be proliferated over my tubular surface according to the main sunlight direction.
1. I introduce the surface component.
2. I use "Divide Interval2" in order to have division into U and V.
3. i generate the target boxes [ "surfaceBox"] .
4. I use "Isotrim" ( same intervals) and "BRepArea" to find centroid of each area.
5. My "Curve" component introduces sun angle, with its "End Points".
6. I use "Vector 2Pt" to specify sun-light direction.
7. I want to measure the angle between sun-light and the surface normals, at the position of each component; after generating the centre points, I need the normals of each centre point to get the surface's points' UV, and "Evaluate" the srf at points.
8."Angle" and "Vector" components: I use them in order to evaluate the angle between the sun direction and the srf.
9. I convert this angle to degree by using a "Function" [ to see if the angle is bigger from the max.angle or not...]
10. Function "x,y" gives me boolean data.
11. Data become "Dispatch"ed...
12. Two "Morph" components , each one linked to one part of the "Dispatch" data, generate "closed" and "open" components over the srf.
The result should have been different types of components, based on the surface's curvature, diraction and sun-light direction...
I do not understand where the mistake is in this definition...
Thx in advance1

nded from the centerline at a specified thickness, which may vary along the stent. Two parameters, tmid and tend, control thickness variation
along the segment’s longitudinal direction according to the kinematically admissible Hermitian
curve:
t (d) = tend + t(3d2 − 2d3) 0 ≤ d ≤ 1
t = tmid − tend
where d is the normalized distance along the segment’s
NURBS curve between its endpoint and midpoint. This
form ensures there are no discontinuities in thickness at
the segment midpoint or at the interface of segments in the
overall stent.
2)These normals are then checked and subject to a filleting
procedure to remove re-entrant corners, resulting in
two external sets of boundary coordinates defining the
external edges of the segment’s mid-plane.
3) This plane of nodes is then extruded at a specified angle
(see Section 2.3) to generate a 3-D set of nodes defining
the finite element mesh.
4) These nodes are then mapped to cylindrical coordinates.
5) Finally, 20-node brick elements are generated for finite
element analysis.
I have generated the centerline using 8 control points with degree 7 .
Would be great if anyone can help me with the drawing the normals from the centerline of specified length governed by Hermitian equation,so as to generate the 2D model of a stent (Please refer to the attached figure of a 2D stent and extruded figure) ,using Grasshopper.
The centerline of a single stent segment is representedas a NURBS curve.…
t to work. I was getting an error message on the OSMshapes components. I searched the forums and followed these steps:Close your Grasshopper and Rhino.2) Restart your PC3) When it boots up again, in your Start menu's search box type: "UAC". Click on it, and a new User Account Control Settings window will open. Set the bar on the left to "Never notify".4) Completely turn off your Antivirus.5) Check once again if your access control to the C:\MapWinGIS_installation_folder\gdal-data\osmconf.ini file is still set to the values you previously reported in this post.6) Right-click on "Rhino 5" icon and then choose: "Run as administrator".7) When Rhino boots up, run Grasshopper, and open the newest create_3dbuildings_trees_streets.gh file from here. This got the script to work and eliminated all of the error messages. The thing is... The omsconfig file's settings switch back after a some time passes, so I have to keep going back to change them. Also If I don't right click on rhino and choose "open as an adminstrator" the script won't work. I'll get those same error messages when I open Rhino normally. I'm also not super comfortable turning off my antivirus software during the time that I am working. Are there more permanant solutions that I can employ without going through these steps every time?
Thanks,
Robert…

gh, when I bake, the geometry suddenly exists in rhino.
Second, I can seem to figure out how to set default numeric values in the component.

way everything is consolidated and people can share their thoughts.
1. Cluster rollover tips
Id like to be able to create rollover help text for each cluster input. This could be a right click thing once the cluster is created or something specified before creating the cluster (a string input for the cluster input arrows?)
2. Disconnect all outgoing
I'd like to be able to right click on an output of any component and disconnect all wires coming out of it.
3. Disconnect all selected
It would be cool if you could disconnect all incoming or outgoing wires from all currently selected components (instead of just one at a time).
4. List item dynamic slider
There has been a lot of discussion about dynamic range sliders and the issues that they would cause. Id like one specifically for list item selection. This would be an integer slider that would have a range of 0 to the list length-1. If the range remaps and the previous value is no longer available, I think it's best to have the current value stay as close to the previous value as possible.
5. Cluster slider/toggle inputs
I think it could be valuable to cluster a series of variable inputs (like sliders or toggles) to make a sort of options cluster. In this case you could just have a list of sliders and toggles each connected directly to a cluster output arrow, select all and create your cluster. This would be great with the value list component as well.
6. Have a component that could output the x and y location of actual components on the canvas relative to the top left corner... Not sure exactly what you could do with this but I think someone could do something interesting with it.
7. 3d MD slider. I see the option is greyed out and don't see a way to activate it... Still under development? Seems like it could be just like the color picker. Would be cool.
That's all I can think of right now. I'm sure there will be more to come in the future.
Feel free to comment.

rawing speed here depends mainly on the speed of a single processor. Get a faster processor, increase the redraw speed.
2) Geometry operations. Such as Piping, Lofting, Curve CP etc. These are all performed by the Rhino core so there's little to be done here. We're continuously working on speeding things up, but they're already pretty fast (considering the complexity of the tasks). Rhino 5 has got a few bits and pieces of multi-threaded code and once we're convinced they're working well we'll probably apply those newly won skills to other parts of the core. These operations are also dependent mainly on processor speed.
3) Autosave operations. Since these involve writing data to the disk, it's very hard to predict whether or not it will be a fast or slow operation.
4) Viewport previews. This code is actually pretty horrible, it could be much faster than it currently is. However, a good Graphics card will make a lot of difference both now and in the future.
The ideal spec for Grasshopper is the same as it is for Rhino:
A) Get a good graphics card. We no longer shun ATI since their latest cards are actually pretty good, so either get a high-end NVidia or ATI card. Good gaming cards are not necessarily good CAD cards. Gaming cards are optimized for triangles and sprites, they don't do particularly well with curves.
B) Memory is dirt cheap, get as much as you can. 4GB being the absolute minimum. But, be sure to get fast-access memory, makes a lot of difference.
C) Get a fast processor. Since neither Rhino nor Grasshopper very much use multi-threading it is important that every single core is fast. I.e., don't get fooled by vendors who add the core speeds together and present that as the processor speed. One core running at 4 GHz is better than 8 cores running at a combined 16GHz.
As for OS, I'd recommend XP Pro or Windows 7. Stay away from Vista if you can. Also, almost all the software and hardware problems I come across at workshops are happening on MacOS machines running some flavour of Windows. Be it parallels, Bootcamp or VMWare.
