Thank you for your answer. I see a lot of people has this similar problem. I would like to analyse just the inside of the block building, while the exterior shape will be changing with each step, controlled by a galapagos.

It would be really nice if you could give more like a step by step instruction how to deal with this issue.

    Regards,

    Petar

  • Alessandro Liuti

    Hi to all,

I've been trying to solve the following issue:
Panel_1 absorbs "n" peak solar radiation per day (kWh/m2).
If I add Panel_2 at its bottom edge (obj. type panel; material mirror), I want to evaluate the increase of solar absorption "n+∆n" on Panel_1 (kWh/m2), depending on the tilt of Panel_2.

I can't state any difference between the case with and the case without Panel_2 - therefore no result can be optimized within Galapagos.
Does reflected radiation need particular considerations? Shall I change strategy?

I hereby enclose the definition; thanks for your help,

    Alessandro.

    Hi!
I'm trying to install Geco on the latest GH 9.14 but the installer won't let me and says the version of GH is old. Is there a way to fix it?

    Thanks!

  • to]

    make sure you have v1.0.33

  • Vangel Kukov

    Thank you for your reply!
I have downloaded the latest version of Geco but still the error message appears. It appears even if I try to install the older version of Geco.

  • to]

rhino and grasshopper has to be closed...

...maybe wrong message for the error catch

  • Vangel Kukov

With closed rhino and GH is still the same. Thanks anyway!

  • to]

    which version do you use?

the new for rhino 5 only?

  • to]

    Hi,

we will release a gh rh5 only release soon.

This is will cover this problem. Thx to all for reporting this.

  • Jesus Galvez

    Reposted,

I had the same issue as Francesco. I'm running Windows Vista with Rhino 5 64bits, GH 0.9.0014, Ecotect Analysis 2011 and Geco 1.0.33.

The initial installation of Geco 1.0.33 by default gives me the same error Francesco posted. I tried Thomas solution copying geco.gha and gecolink.dll to "C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 5.0 Beta (64-bit)\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components" and it didn't work.

Then I copied both files to "C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries" and it did work. Finally I tried a few combinations of copying those files to:

    C:\Users\Jesus\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Rhinoceros 4.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper

    C:\Program Files\Rhinoceros 5.0 Beta (64-bit)\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components

and it seems the trick is to have both files in the first and second location.

    BTW I'm new with Geco.

    Cheers

    Hi
First of all thanks for your Great  Plugin !

For correct analysis of surfaces i test some ways

First Brep Mesh, in this way i just select all the surfaces and start analysis, the form are correct but i don't  know the analysis are correct!?

The second way is mesh surface, the problem is , fitting mesh in theses surface, it need alot of  U & V and the analysis going to so long
could you please consider my file or guidance ؟

  • Jacopo Baldini

    Hi guys,

i'm running grasshopper 0.8.0066 on Rhino before the 2013 Geco was working properly but now doesn't wanna work anymore...

I downloaded the last version from Food4Rhino (gecoforgh_installer_v1.034_gh0.9.0014) but doesn't work something missing during the loading process...

What I should do? I already tried to upgrade grasshopper with the last version but doesn't work either.

Before I was usign GecoForGH_Installer_v1.030GH0.8.xxxx and now I just need a new license for that.

How can I fix the problem?

    Cheers, Jacopo!

  • to]

please check and delete every version you may have there copied manually

    C:\Users\YOURPROFIL\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries

than make sure you have geco version 1.0034 and as you can read in the notes of the download geco only works with GH09.0014 and higher.

    best

Using the Insolation Calculations component... mesh exports and calculates in Ecotect perfectly. The problem is in returning the values to Grasshopper. The Insolation Component turns orange and tells me that the connection with Ecotect was not successful and if I am sure Ecotect is running, even though it is. D out put is Null.

Any idea what can be causing this? I am using the latest version, been successful at doing this in the past with Geco.

  • djordje

    @Jacopo Baldini:
It seems this problem emerged before.
As Tomas, stated, uninstall your current Geco plugin. After that check your "Rhinoceros\Plug-ins\Grasshopper\Components" folder and delete any of remainders of Geco plugin (files named "Geco..."). Be sure to download the latest version of Geco from here. Install it.

    @Elliot Glassman:
    could you attach you definition?

  • Elliot Glassman

    Here it is: Solar%20Analysis.gh

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • djordje

Not sure what seems to be causing the problem.

It works perfectly at my place:

Change the Weather files according to the one you used, and try downloading the .3dm and .gh files from here:

The best solution for somebody who has this problems is to set the toggles manually and turn them on one by one whenever the component finished instead of using the automated way (this is also valid for solution taking longer than 5 minutes - internal time out)

    Hi,

I am looking for some simple example how to do Solar Rays. In Ecotect we need to select solar reflector. In EcoSunRays component we import sunpath data, time, date and scale... how we specify reflecting and transparent material?

  • Gabriele Stancato

Hi, I get this warning:maybe there is no ecotect 2011 installed.

I've unistalled any older version of geco, deleted any file and folder with geco, cleaned cache and registry, installed again geco but I still get the message : maybe there is no ecotect 2011 installed.

    (rhino 5 - GH 0.9.0014 for rhino 5 - geco 1.037 - ecotect 2011 - windows 7 64 bit).

    Hello u-to

i´ll teach gh+geco in the next week AA workshop in Sao Paulo. Some students are having problems with the installation of geco with latest rhino and GH version. If you try to open the installer, you receive a message "The installed version of Grasshopper is not high enough please update at least to Grasshopper 'Rhino5only' 09.0014 to support this installer". could you help me?

    Hi kypta,

for beginners we recommend the geco webinar which we did some time ago. http://www.geometrydepth.com/training/geco-introduction/

  • kytap

I just tell them that geco exists and what you can do with it and i wil give them the site. thanks for the link.

  • to]

    dear geco users,

if you encounter problems(gecolink problem) with the last release(without installer) please make sure that the assemblies are not blocked. To check this just right click on the geco.gha and gecolink.dll. If they are blocked you can see this on the right bottom corner with the button called unblock.

Hello, I just checked your website and wanted to download the "Mesh Analysis and Utility Components", but failed. It seemed that I will need some permission? What should I do?

    Thank you

    Dear Fan,

After requesting the uto-tools it takes some time and you will receive an email when request was processed. Please do not request multiple times. Sorry if there is sometimes a delay.

    Hello,

I'm just having some troubles while using Geko + Grasshopper + Galapagos.

First of all, I'm trying to cover a volume (for example, a cube) with the analysis grid over all volume's faces, but the grid only appears on one of them. I would like to know how to analyse an entire volume, regardless its form.

Then, I would like to know how to configure my pc so the calculation process gets faster. I'm using  an AMD FX 8210 processor with 8 Gb RAM. Each core is kind of weak, so what I should do? Overclock my PC? deactivate some cores in order to fully concentrate the calculation process on those which still activated?

Thanks for your time and dedication. Your application is being quite useful for my research investigation!

    (sorry about my English)

    Luciano

  • Esraa Esmail Abdelaziz

Does that mean Geco has stopped in 2015 ??
Geco didn't work with me in the latest grasshopper version. Any help please!

  • dalec

    hello,

Now by merging Ecotect functions into Revit, are there any possibilities to have a component that works like Geco but to link grasshopper with revit for simulation and energetic analyse??

    Thank you and regards

  • to]

    @ Esraa Esmail Abdelaziz:

geco is available and will be accessible for free also in the future.

we only update the file every year if there have been any reported issues.

    @ dalec:

There are no plans from our site to write components for revit as there are already comprehensive once as grevit or similar.

Keep also in mind that revit is a BIM software and is not a sustainable design software.

For this I would guide you more into direction of honeybee and energy plus or diva if you look for a substitute.

  • dalec

Thank you for your answer, but actually I like working with Geco, but now since ecotect will not be available anymore, I do not know how to proceed.

  • to]

    @dalec:

ecotect will not disappear it will just not updated anymore.

    your version will still work.

There will be different solution coming up in the future

  • Manuel Muehlbauer

You announced a new version of MeshEdit quite a while ago. When will it be ready to use. If I can be of any help testing the software, let me know.
