Flexible diagrid

Hi!

I'm trying to make a flexible diagrid, similar to the photos. Is it possible with kangaroo?

I was thinking about creating the grid, setting the lines as springs and apply some unary opposite forces to deform the grid.

Am I in the right way?

Is it enough with the springs or do I need to give the lines bending properties?

Could the forces be set like points that I can move in Rhino so I can have more control of the deformation?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

You might find it useful to add weaker springs across the short diagonals of the quads to give them some resistance to stretching so it keeps it's form a bit.

      (see attached files)

and yes, you could also do it with bending, but it's probably not necessary in this case.

        Hi Daniel,

I want to do something similar to your grid conformalization video: http://vimeo.com/18269637

and I found this post is very close to get the one you showed in your video. I tried myself, however, I don't know which factor is the most important one to smoothly deform the grid, I'm attaching the gh and rhino I'm working on.
