Hi Daniel,
I wondered whether you could help me by adding the Kangaroo bending simulation to the plankton remeshing script as shown in the attached definition.
As you know one of my interests in the remeshing process is to explore how topology arises out of connectivity.
As you can see in the above image the remeshing produces a result the is consistent with the original topology overall, but it has some local deformations from the singularities.
Now that the technical possibility exist to run both the remeshing and bending of the corresponding dual alongside or one after the other, I wondered whether these local deformations could be resolved by f.e. pulling the dual back to the original mesh and the flipping/collapsing/splitting edges in the triangular dual.
Or is there another way to include the bending of the dual into the remeshing?
Thanks!
Daniel Piker
Hi Mathias,
It might be possible to to create a different smoothing energy that minimizes the variation in the edge lengths of the dual. So for each edge, check the distance between the barycenters of the 2 adjacent triangles and pull or push the corresponding tips apart/together accordingly.Something like this:
I'll try and give this a go soon.
I'm not sure about including the bending in the remeshing though, that seems like it would be more tricky.
