Max((Vu x Su)/Se)

 

Vu = usable building Volume

Su = usable Floor Area

Se = Envelope Area

 

This ratio is the singular Fitness parameter for Genetic Optimization used by the Galapagos solver inside the Grasshopper plugin for Rhino3d.

Personal independent research started about a year ago.

    Interesting. The above fitness parameter is used to achieve what goal?

    The goal is to maximize the usable floor area and volume of the building, while minimizing the envelope area (and thus the material quantity and costs) . I think these are universally accepted architectural design goals. So the generative process targets the most efficient building geometry for a given site.
