algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey all!

I joined you guys on this forum because for the first time since I started using GH I can't find an answer on this forum and the internet. It's because I simply don't know what keywords to use!

The case: I modeled some geometry in Rhino and manage to decompose it in GH up to all the individual curves. The next step would be to create a curve between the points on the divided upper (elliptical) curve with the points on the divided lower (circular) curve. The curve (white) just has to follow the loft of the geometry you see as well. In this way I want to paste a simple curve on a loft, resulting it will twist around the loft. Hence constructing the beginning of a diagrid construction. :)

I tried a lot of curve features, but I just kind find one which uses a loft (I can't get planar stuff running!) as some kind of reference. After this I expect as well I'll need to resolve the fact that the curve will start curling around like a helix instead of simply finding the fastest way to its end point.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Bas,

To create GH curves on surfaces you could try a couple things:

_Draw a diagrid pattern in 2D and simulate the Flow Along Surface command (search the forum for this, there have been a lot of discussions lately).

_Use the Curve on Surface component to connect known uv points on your surface. If you're doing a building design and will be adding floor plates this could be a route to create points to connect.

_Create another set of surface geometry to intersect with your master surface to generate the diagrid. This could be some kind of helix.

_Have a look at anything Vicente posts like here

_There will be a new geodesic curve on surface component coming soon (it will do the same the thing the ShortPath command in Rhino does)

_Your surface might be too unique for the GH / PanelingTools combo to work but it could still be worth looking into.
