Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I've been trying to create a laser cut fabric canopy in Rhino 4.  I want the the final to be similar to the following link with
pierce cuts but not large holes so that the fabric will drape off of
the main surface.

I'm trying to learn grasshopper to try to achieve this. While I can easily create the cut paths on a flat surface and send it to the laser cutter,
I have not been able to achieve the full draped effect in rhino.   I
need to create a 3d model to show my client before an actual sample is
made.

Any suggestions??

Generating the forms and generating the 2D cut curves are two separate problems.

Here are some suggestions for cloth modeling, but it's not easily done with GH alone: Heinz Isler
If you're looking to model "gills" here's a file I made that works with an attractor point.

Thanks! I'm looking to model a version of smaller "gills" on a large fabric canopy. I'll see if I can make this work.
