algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

I have just started to experiment with mesh relaxation with Kangaroo for a university project and I think that while in principle I'm doing ok, I have some problems with the mesh edges. While I would like the to be in two sets of parallel edges, they are cnverging towards a vertice of my intial mesh wich in the end results into an unven relaxation of the mesh. Any ideas how I could reposition the mesh edges?



I attach the rhino and gh definition files, just in case they help.

Try the force density relaxation tools from geometry gym plugin, here's an example image by Jon Mirtschin...although it looks similar to what you have, I'm guessing that it can be resolved by tweaking the custom mesh settings if you're using any or if you're going from brep to mesh with your surface.

Thanks very much for this. I don't have geometry gym but I'll take a look at it. However I am trying to work it out with Kangaroo since it approximates fabrics better. Again thank you for your input.

I tried to look at your kangaroo one too but the .3dm file has nothing in it!

Sorry, the default layer is just hidden! It just has a brep in it that I have set to be my intial Brep in my definition and then tranform it to mesh.

You have to take car of the distribution of the springs in the mesh. 

Each spring equals a force, and in your case there are much more springs in the vertex at the bottom right part of the image, obviously the mesh relaxes towards this position. 

Try subdividing the triangle with a ConstantQuads component from Weaverbird, it will lead to an even disposition of springs on the mesh, thus a closer behavior to reality.

also make sure the wbedges component that's going into 'connection' for springs also goes to 'restlength'!

Thanks a lot guys. I just had to reconstruct the mesh from my intial vertices and then the ConstantQuads command from weaverbird worked fine!
