Mesh From image: how to move it?? how to colorize it

Hello Every Body!

I have a couple of questions and I hope any one of you could help me:

1) I would like to change the anchor point of a picture I've created, using a Firefly component (Mesh From image) In the Rhino view port it is not possible to modify it until is backed (and I don't want!) I need to place several images each one in a different place.

2) Is it possible to use another component THAT DO NOT CONVERT INTO BLACK AND WHITE, the pictures??. I need to set COLOR images in a 3D model, using grasshopper. thanks!

Any comment or suggestion would be welcome!!!

Thanks a lot!

1) The mesh from BitmapToMesh can be manipulated (moved, scaled, etc.) like any other mesh in GH. You are probably misinterpreting purpose of that component. It uses the luminance (gray value) of a Bmp to create a height map mesh. The bitmap you see in the Viewport is the preview of this component. The output mesh does not have any color information, that is coded into z displacement of the mesh vertices.

2) I am not aware of any component that provides the PictureFrame capability you are after.

Thanks Hannes for the explanations,

I saw this example http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/dynamic-input-for-image

and I thought it would be possible to do something similar from a picture but, instead of using points, projecting a picture into a surface or mesh. That was the starting point of my idea and and I tried to work it out with BitmapToMesh.

Do you think it would be possible to do something like that (projecting a picture on a surface/mesh)?

Hannes is right... the Mesh from Image component uses the luminance to scale the z-coordinate of the image (as well as provide a vertex shader).  I think it's possible to provide a feature which would allow you to use the color (R,G,B) values at each vertex instead of the grey value... I can try to add that in for the next release.... but I'm not exactly sure when that will be.

Before  June would be perfect!!... haha

I´m working trying to match frames of a video with numeric values of several sensors Im working with for my final degree project, and this is a difficult task, and all the frames become black and white with the Mesh From image.

Thanks anyway!

By the way... thanks to your comments I started thinking in a new way, an I solved how to move the mesh and keep the gray scale, with a single  "custom preview component" It was in front of my eyes!

Saludos del Mediterráneo!
