Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I tapped into excel via the vb.net component http://www.thediscontinuum.net/iot-overview/2009/10/30/definitions-...

I am using this as a basis for generating simple squares based on excel data which represents area. The vb.net component is pulling two columns of data from excel, whose horizontal (row) relationship I would like to preserve in GH in order to create "square pairs" which share a center point and have variable area. The bond of these pairs could be established through lofting or grouping.

The problem I am encountering is extracting the data sets pulled from two columns of excel into lofted pairs in GH.  Pathmapper + Weave seems like an option, but I can't seem to get the right structure through the source/target dialogue in Pathmapper.

Check out the attached files - open the excel file along with the GH definition ( you may need to recompute or establish new connections between the vb.net component and the "pow" component).

I am Excel-less at the moment, but it sounds like your problem is more on the GH side.

Can you post sample Excel input data as a separate text file? That might make things a little easier to troubleshoot.

Also, have you seen this discussion? I'm not sure how far development got but the general topic is similar.
My bad, that discussion is about generating Excel diagrams from GH...

But Damien and Luis are the Excel / OO guys.
i'm unable to answer your question but you seem like you might be able to answer one of mine:

i'm trying to get sound data into GH/Rhino...I've had success with Niels Wouters method in real time using Processing and then pausing. I would also like to try taking a whole song and displaying and fabricating objects based on that data. I can get songs into simple spreadsheets showing time and amplitude but how would I get this to generate a mesh or height map that I could apply/map on to another surface or object?

I got another code for Processing that outputs a large FFT spreadsheet..somebody said I might be able to generate a picture based on that and then use the picture to generate the height map or point cloud.

any help or insight where I may find would be awesome!
thank you,
Matt.
