algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone!

I'm new at Karamba and I want to put my structure under load and see which element is tension and which one is compression and null, but I don't know my definition is true or not But I almost think it's not...

Please, can you take look and see where I'm wrong?

And if I want to see where tensions and compressions are at the highest level, Just put my Render Settings in the Beam View on Displacement or there is another way?

Hi,

the results of your space-frame look plausible - if your governing load-case is dead weight. The image above shows the utilization of the beams: Blue signifies tension, red compression. 

There are peaks at the supporting columns. The sliders in the ModelView-component under 'RenderSettings' let you adapt the upper and lower threshold of the color range for visualizing results. This can be used to get a clearer impression of the intermediate results.

here the answers to your questions:

  • Regarding the columns: check where the supports are. Maybe they are at the top of the columns instead of at the bottom. See the manual for how to display and scale the support symbols.
  • If you run the free version of Karamba calculate the utilization of the beams by dividing the normal force by the cross section area of the corresponding cross section. There is an example on the website and in the examples collection which demonstrates the procedure (see 'Special Folders/Components Folder': 'Karamba/Examples/WebsiteExamplesOptimizeBeam.gh'). In case you run the student- or pro-version of Karamba use the CroSecOpti-component.
  • A wind load is best generated using the MeshLoad-component (see manual)
  • In the picture above it seems like you have a problem with your path structure. Flatten the input at the Assemble-component. The dashed lines indicate data trees flowing around in the pipes.

I do what you said

But its not working with columns

The reason is same, columns must be compression but they are tension

Please can you take a look.

Hi One Willson,
in Pic.1 you can see, that there are supports at the top of the columns (the green arrows indicate translational supports). They are the reason why the columns do not get any loads from the space frame.
