I'm glad to be able to show something where the complex modulus / arg functions are really useful !
It's not always so easy to find the perpendicular streamlines corresponding to a set of equipotentials - in that 'Isopotential Map' definition you link to for example you'd have to use something like gradient descent to find them step by step. The awesome thing about doing it with complex numbers is that you skip that altogether and finding streamlines becomes just as easy as taking contours.
