Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey all,

I'm trying to find work by companies that build with a heavy basis of computing and could really use your help.

An example of this would be the project Schuytgraaf by Markus Braach and Oliver Fritz with KCAP. This involved the development of a program called 'Kaiserrot' which is a city planning software. They let the users choose things about where they wanted to live and the computer software worked out an optimal solution based on these factors.

There are companies like designboom and matsys but the scale of their work is quite small or just involves assisting bigger firms with the computational modelling part.

Gehry Partners have an extremely advanced modelling system but, as a firm, their focus is more on enabling the sculptural properties of the architecture to emerge rather than seeking a truth through the use of computing.

I guess I'm looking for individuals or companies that have a theoretical notion of building with computers like the ETH-led project with Kaiserrot, where they achieved something special but completely rational.

All pointers are appreciated!

Cheers,
Z

Hi Z,

My company uses Grasshopper as a parametric modeling aid. Not sure we fit your profile, but take a look.
