Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello, I was wondering if i could get some help from any grasshopper mastermind / anyone that knows a bit more than me.

I would like to create a ghx file which will allow me to create the maximum possibilities of outcomes.

I have 8 boxes/rectangle ( this number is a variable and may change). They all have specific dimensions and must remain in the same xyz direction.

I have a larger bounding box, and i wish to fit my 8 boxes into this larger box ( with specific dimensions). and to achieve the variety of possibilities there is, without the 8 boxes overlapping.

My problem is I do no know how to allow grasshopper or vb to create the maximum number of possibilities . I am definitely a beginner, but i do understand a little.

Any help would be muchh appreciated.

Best,

Mush

Look into Galapagos.

Hi Mush,

Here are some ways to start in learning Galapagos. From what I know, there isn't a straight forward tutorial but it's quite simple to grasp.

Look here for an intro at Galapagos by David Rutten :

There are a lot of example files done here by many folks in the GH community :

Path optimization is the easiest to understand especially by Jacek Jaskólski :

This might also help your specific problem:
