algorithmic modeling for Rhino

having trouble matching the intended aesthetic of a definition

I'm trying to make something similar to the image below using the definition below, but I can't seem to figure out what kind of geometry I need to plug into the definition to get the desired result.  I'm not sure if the issue is geometry type (pt, line, crv, srf, obj) or placement, but I can't seem to replicate anything approaching this type of look.

Any clues as to how I can accomplish this would be extremely helpful!

I should add that there's no deadline to this, I'm merely experimenting, so if there's a question of more urgency, please answer that question first.  I'm not going anywhere ;)

From the icons it seems that the two referenced inputs are a surface and attractor curves. 

Just make sure that the surface is in the correct scale since you have static inputs (via sliders) for distance threshold checking.
