Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm new to grasshopper.
For a project at school i would like to generate something like soap bubbles.
What i have in mind is a group of a few spheres (maybe 10) on a surface.
The structur should be similar to the attached picture.
Is there anyone who could help me on this?

Try searching "voronoi 3d"...

hey,

thanks for your quick reply!

in fact i already searched quite a lot in this direction!

unfortunatly i didn't get the result i'm expecting.

i guess the main problem is that i have just very little experience with grasshopper!

any other advice would be very appreciated

this is what i achieved till now.

the problem is, if i give every point a different height (which i need to get different size of bubbles) the "intersection" isn't anymore where the bubbles meet.

any idea how to get rid of that?

sorry if i'm asking annoying questions....

this is ready made script, i am not even trying to modify that ...i can't. but in this discussion:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/voronoi-2

you can see how it can be made without scripting. Next what you should do after rewriting it, is making it work with different spheres radius.. take a look, you will see what iam talking about. also look at solution made by Vincente and understand how it works...

StructDrawRhino might also help here, mesh inflation if you create your network of 2d surfaces from the voronoi diagram.  Kangaroo also has inflation now.

Hi
research should be focused on the work of Frei Otto and his IL papers. He did a lot on this topic. You will find there ways to create it.
cheers,
I agree with to]

This here i found on this page:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/voronoi-volume

could anyone tell me how to get that?

i can't quite follow the instructions below the picture....!

Here's a start.  You can get creative with the initial point dispersion and then with sub-selections of points by assigning different sphere radii to the various groupings.

hey chris,

thanks for your help!

in the attached file you can see how i got about the same result with a different structure.

as i compare them i'm asking myself if i really ned the voronoi diagram?

And is there a way to create a surface (as in the picture above)at every intersection?
