Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

We first posted the Contour Tool back in June 2010 and it’s time for an update:

By selecting a surface in Grasshopper, the original definition sped up the process for creating laser cut physical models. But at the beginning of projects, we’re almost always dealing with a mesh, as either a toposurface from Revit or geometry from Sketchup. This updated definition works with surfaces, polysurfaces, and meshes.
Contours

Toposurfaces from Revit or SketchUp can be ugly in Rhino. By ugly, we mean that they have naked vertices, overlapping faces, etc. These types of meshes are a major problem when trying to create regions from contour lines, so this definition ignores region creation. Rather, groups are created by their vertical position and the same approach of the original contour definition is used to separate the file into a fixed number of sheets.

Hi,

Thanks for posting this to the forum. It is a great tool. I am trying to work out how to convert it to metric, so far unsuccessfully. I hope to achieve a scale of 1/1000... or 1/500 but am having some difficulty with that, though i have worked out the conversion ratios they come with errors within the definition and unfortunately i don't understand it enough to work backwards to achieve the desired result on a metric scale. Does anyone have any ideas for that?
