Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

have any of you tried working with either Houdini and/or Archimatix ?

I just wondered how they compare to Grasshopper.

Thanks, Ben

Wow, thanks Daniel, glad I posted my question, I will try it out,
looks very exciting.

You could try IOGRAM (iogram.ca). Some demos here....

I want to create animated, shifting geometries and vector fields, which I think Houdini would be quite capable of in many respects, but I am familiar with Grasshopper (and think it may be superior in some ways even if less so in others), so there would be a lot less learning involved.

What do you want to do?

Thanks Mohamed,

I guess they are quite different, I am sure Grasshopper is the most powerful with the matrix manipulations and extensions, short of working with quads (as far as I know). I want to have GH capabilities within Unity to do some work for VR, so will look into the links some people have forged.

I think Houdini is good for simulation and cinematic effects (fire, explosion, falling wall, smoke etc)

It's not about precise Modeling and exact dimensions

Maybe I am wrong
