David Rutten replied to Farley2076's discussion Curve Parameter bug?
"Hi Austin,   parameters only rarely coincide with Length. A single line curve can be assigned a parameter domain from 0.0 to Length, in which case the two will match. However a linear nurbs curve of higher degree than 1 might have the same…"

"Thanks for your reply.  I think I did that in one of my alternate method tests in the top right. The parameters I'm getting (from the lower box in purple) are the same as real length numbers because the curve is flat and straight, you can…"

Danny Boyes replied to Farley2076's discussion Curve Parameter bug?
"Hi Austin,   Its a misunderstanding. Length does not equal Parameter. If you want to evaluate a curve at a given length then there is a separate component "Evaluate Length". By default this component's Input N is set to true…"

Curve Parameter bug?

Either there is something up with curve parameters, or I'm misunderstanding them. In the attached image you'll see I started with a 3D line, took it's length and divided it into equal segments. The final t parameter returns the same number as its length. Great. BUT, when I try to feed those parameter numbers and evaluate the…See More

David Rutten replied to Farley2076's discussion Turn off automatic compute?
"Ok, in either case. I just added a general (program wide) on/off switch for the solver, so with the next version you'll be able to disable the entire solution-engine and load/modify and save files while it's off."

Umbilic Torus

Trying to learn a bit about mathematical surfaces and how to build them in GH using the expression editor. This was a pretty interesting one I came across on the Internet of a form called an Umbilic Torus. It's like a Moebius Strip in that it only has one edge, but it is a 3D form.

This definition also puts to good use a method for creating tree data from a single list, a problem I had that I got some assistance on over on the old Google Group from David Rutten and… Continue
