Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm desperate guys.

I have been trying for weeks to use correctly the function PointLine in Kangaroo, but does not work in any way.
Please give me an example or a file that will show it doing something, I need this type of force so much.

I've looked everywhere on the internet, I also posted this:

But still nothing.

Please help me.

Hi Francesco,

Sorry for the delay getting back to you.

The PointLine force isn't working properly yet - I'll get it fixed for the next release but in the meantime if you describe or show what you are trying to achieve I might be able to suggest a workaround.

Hi Daniel,

thank you very much for the answer.

I need that component in many ways, but for example, I need it to move some point on a surface depending on their diastance from a curve/line/polyline.

For now I've solved dividing the curve in n points, and then using PowerLaw forces for every point.

It seems to work well, but with PointLine force all will be more elegant :)

I see - Would it also work to have a version of the CurvePull component that allows you to set different exponents?

(You can actually already put in a negative value for strength to make the curve repel the points, but because it is a spring-like force, it gets stronger with distance, whereas usually you'd want the inverse)

One advantage of the PointLine force is that it will work with lines whose endpoints are themselves defined by moving particles in Kangaroo - so the curve can also get pushed by the particles, whereas the CurvePull takes the curve as input - so the interaction is one-way. On the other hand, CurvePull can use a NURBS curve directly, without discretizing it.

Exactly, you totally get the point!

CurvePull that allow to set different exponents would be perfect!

hi daniel,

is this component fixed in the current release?

thank you,

Best

Robert
