Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Jon,

I have a question. Your plug-in for Grasshopper to GSA has a huge potential and that is why I use it for my Master thesis. Currently I am working on timber shell structures for which I need GSA for structural analysis. The digital chain of software can be shortened to two because of you plug-in. The problem which I encounter is as follows.

Each hexagon plate in the structure is connected by a connection. To get a grasp of the amount of force that the connection needs to transfer I would like to know the loads at the plate corners. This means that the corners (or mesh vertices) should resemble the connection. To do this I would like to restrain these nodes in certain LOCAL directions, but as far as I can see it is only possible for GLOBAL directions.

If I use global directions the simulation runs smooth in GSA but the results are not completely correct.

Is there a way to control the node constraints in LOCAL directions??

Yours sincerely,

Sebastien
