Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

it's me again with a parametric tower issue ;)

As i am working on my tower i started by creating a truss and combining my tower with it. Nnow i wanted to create a voronoi pattern to achieve sth. like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw61WJbe2VU

Actually i am clueless how it is done, if its even possible by just using gh or if u need t-splines and rework it in Rhino.

I tried to achieve sth similiar by creating a pipe surface on my voronoi, but that doesn't get me the smooth connecton i want between the cells.

I found this Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jiQqWpSsdo)  which is actually what i want to do with my Tower. Since there is no description and i am not experienced enough to understand everything the person is doing unfortunately it doesn't really help me out.

If anybody could give me a hint, maybe a tutorial or even sth similiar which i can use to get a direction of how this could be done i would be so glad.

Thx a lot in advance

Julian

P.s. I uploaded my gh settings with my current progress in the description.

thank you :) can you recommend a method? like the exoskeleton?

I recommend which ever one you like best ;)

Hey Michael,

i managed to create the mesh with the methods you send me, it's looking pretty solid.

There is just one aspect bothering me in my model, which is why i went back some steps.
When i am making the tower surface with the loft command, it creates a polyline top to bottom of course. This polyline is applied to my tower until the very last point, since i created the voronoi on the towersurface which includes this polyline.
So i want to create the voronoi on the towersurface and after that extract the top to bottom polyline and delete it. Do you know which command can help me out there?

In the description you can find my settings and a picture showing my tower. On the left side you can see it still with the polyline and on the right side i extracted it but only with rhino.

Would be great if u could help me out there

maybe to get a better idea of my problem: you can see the straight line top to bottom, which is created in the very first step by lofting the tower.

I'll add my final setting so you can see the whole process.

If anybody could help my i'd be very glad.
