Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I noticed that new grasshopper has native SHP import feature, which some of us have been really waiting for.

Problem I am having is that when used in Rhino 5 x64, component sends out runtime error message.

'error while parsing xxxx : Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0.....'

When used in x86 rhino 5 it works fine. Is it just me or that component was designed for use with Rhino x86 only in the first place?

Also, it doesn't seem to be reading GIS attribute data with geometries. Is there a way to read attributes too? (like what Finches component does? - http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/localcodecomponents/forum/topics...)

You'll need to get the 64-bit Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB stuff. I'm not exactly sure which download is the correct one, I remember having to try out quite a bit before I got it to work on my 64-bit machine.

Thank you David.

I have one more question. Is there a way to retrieve GIS attribute data(string(text)) along with geometries from shp file using new SHP import component?

Is there? I'm really stuck with it. I tried @it plug in but it didn't work. I know the GetUserText command in Rhino gives out the attributes, but how can we use it in grasshopper?
