Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi!

Hopefully someone will be able to help me!

I want to create a screen similar to the one that was constructed at Eskenazi Hospital's Car Park by Rob Ley (May-September) which was created using grasshopper.

So far I have been able to make the screen however I need tips and advice on how to rotate the different components on the 1 surface to be 4 different variables i.e. each one a different angle (25*, 45*, -25*, -45*), I want to do these at random.

I have attached the Grasshopper and Rhino file in hopes that someone will be able to assist! Hopefully what I want to do is also clear enough to understand

Thanks in advance!!

Hi.

Not exactly the same as Rob Ley's work(more complex, 3 different types of panel and more rotation angles, etc...), anyway, this could be a similar version using "Image Sampler".

Thanks Hyungsoo Kim - is it possible to upload your Rhino file as well? I opened your Grasshopper file and it doesn't seem to work with errors popping up!

Thanks

Perhaps you don't have some plug-ins(Meshedit, Weaverbird) installed. OK.

Get this native only. Best.

Thanks, I have both plug-ins installed but there are still errors in both files.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks

I have no idea but sometimes "Image Sampler" caused unexpectied behavior.

Try replace to your own new image sampler like the definition image(set to color brightness, domain 0 to 1, choose any of your image).

Or check this as well.

Thanks, I adjusted the U and V count and it seemed to work.

How did you get the blue colour on your original model?

Hi Hyungsoo,

Just wondering if there was a way to select the exact angle of specific panels in this method?

Thanks

This one is more close to Rob Ley's work. 3 different panels, 6 different rotation angles.

And if you'd like to select the panels of specific angle or type, you could do something like this.

Thank you Hyungsoo! Is it possible to have a different colour on each side of the mesh? That's my biggest issue to solve at the moment.

Just for the purpose of display, you can change rhino display Options's backface color setting.
