Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all, I have an array of 11 modules, each consisting of 4 surfaces.  I would like the surfaces of each module rotate at an increasing increment.  For instance, the planes of the first module would rotate 9°, the second module 18°, the third 27°, etc.  I can only seem to get all 11 modules to rotate the same... I know it probably has something to do with series but I can't figure it out.  the screen shot shows the 11 modules rotating to the same degree and the drawing is a plan of what I am trying to accomplish.  Thank you so much in advance!

Hi Daniel,

may I propose a different aproach?

First of all, I would suggest working with lines and only extruding them at the end. This way you keep your definition light and simple.

Another thing is to array first and rotate afterwards. This way you can apply different angles (which is done by creating a series of angles as you guessed).

I am not sure what is the logic for the in-between lines in the second sketch so I just created the 11 basic modules for now.

Hope this helps,

nikos

ps. List and Tree understanding is imo essential in grasshopper. Some tutorials in this field could be of great help.

For the second part it seems that the modules must be in continuous order right?

you could do the following

Like nikos says getting familiar and practicing with lists and trees is essential with grasshopper.

Thank you very much to both of you, these both are extremely helpful. And thanks for the tip about learning lists and trees, i will certainly start learning those functions and abilities.

Cheers,

Dan
