Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello I am very new to grasshopper, I am trying to replicate the turning torso exercise from Arturo Tedeschi’s book, I am typing everything as written in the book but I get the following errors:

First, the different floors are not replicating. In the newer sections(pic1)

Second, the rotation is not happening in the expected way(pic2),

Any imput would be greatly appreciated. I attach the definition, many thanks in advance!!!

Hi Ernesto,

I don't have access to the tutorial at the moment, but I'm surprised to see almost the same logic twice in Sector 1 and 2.

Why are you moving floors twice?

Secondly, you are using three sliders to specify the number of floors, but since this is always one number you should probably just be using one.

Finally your rotation axis is not a vertical line.

I made some changes, see attached.

Hi David,

Many thanks for your response and the attached file, I am really not sure why it is using the same logic, I am following the book steps (pic 3). But I think it is like that because the building is composed of 9 different segments, and each segment has a small gap between them (pic 4) so if I understood well, it is making one sector of 6 floors, and then replicating that sector (each with 6 floors) into 9 different sectors.I added degrees to the angle and specified the axis, this solved the funny torsion I was getting. (pic 5 )

Ah I see. In that case you may indeed need to move and rotate your one floor plan in two distinct steps.
