Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

During installation of firefly, I copied the said 5 files in the components folder as mentioned in the readme file.

Upon restarting grasshopper it shows these three errors ;

Object: WebCam_VideoStream (level 1)
{
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
TargetInvocationException
}

Object: WebCam_VideoStream (level 2)
{
The type initializer for 'Firefly_X.WebCam_VideoStream' threw an exception.
TypeInitializationException
}

Object: WebCam_VideoStream (level 3)
{
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
AccessViolationException
}

Upon closing the dialog box, grasshopper starts normally, and there is a tab for firefly as promised. :)

Just wondering if this error means something.

I'm not quite sure what it means, it's some kind of error that happens in the webcam video stream component. It's odd that it would happen during loading, ideally components don't do anything during loading as that would retard the loading process, still, there's nothing from stopping them.

Does the Webcam component work if you use it on the canvas?

I dont find any webcam component in the firefly tab, or upon double clicking the canvas and typing webcam.

Maybe its missing and that is the reason for the error.

Also I dont have a webcam currently connected to the PC.

Should I try connecting one?

If the component crashes during loading, it may well be missing from the tabs.

Understood the error.

It is the lack of webcam alrite. When I installed firefly on my dell laptop, it opened like a charm.

Apparently, without the webcam installed on my work PC, it lacked a "Webcam Video Stream" component which streams live video feed from the webcam when the component is placed on canvas.

Will post my updates, when I try it with a webcam on work PC.

I get this error with Firefly 1.066 which installs via the Food4Rhino Remote plug-in management app. So I tried downloading Firefly 1.067 directly from http://fireflyexperiments.com/ only to get a new error:

Command: Grasshopper
An error occured during GHA assembly loading:
Path: C:\Users\NYCCTfab\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries\Firefly_Build 1.0067\Firefly Installation\Firefly_X.gha
Exception System.IO.FileNotFoundException:
Message: Could not load file or assembly 'C_sawapan_media, Version=1.0.4590.16200, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

The file C_sawapan_media.dll is present in the same Components folder as the other *.dll and *.gha files, and all files have been Unblocked (a Rhino 5 issue).

I'm using Grasshopper 0.9.0014 and Rhino 5.0 64bit (5.1.20927.2215, 09/27/2012) on Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bit.

Please advise and thank you for your time.

Best,

Brian

I have similar errors. My Arduino works and I was able to upload the firefly firmate. But when I star my grasshopper ... it gives me errors. I am attaching screenshots.

My "open port" is red ... and it used to work before.

karan_dash,

did you find a solution at the end. I get the same error. is it something with the software?

thanks,

When I 'clear values' from Baud then it goes orange. does it mean that i need to apply a particular value? no matter what value I give it it goes red again!!!
