Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm just starting out with grasshopper and going through the great grasshopper primer, I've run into a mystery: Where is the vector\point\grid rectangular? I see the "grid" heading, and the rectangular grid under it, but it has different inputs and outputs than what's in the tutorials. I'm using 6.0059, so perhaps that's the problem, but the grid I see has no "spacing" input, which seems important...

Should I try installing an earlier version, or is there an equivalent that I'm not seeing?

thanks!

Hi Joe,

There's Rectangular Grid and Square Grid. Are you sure you're using the right one?

hi,

I just opened the primer tutorial's source file and it has the recgrid component, but when I mouse over it, it says "obsolete," so I assume that means it was removed from the newer build for some reason. The recgrid and the square grid in my version have more inputs (but none for point spacing), and fewer outputs. All of these seem to relate to the grid shape itself, and not with any points being created.
Could there be a way to "synthesize" the old recgrid using other components?
Hi Joe,

I typically don't replace components with newer ones that have less functionality. The point spacing has become Cell size I think and I removed the Plane output since it seemed perfectly useless.

You can always copy paste the old component if you feel you want to keep on using that one.

great, that is what I needed. Good to know about the "plane" output since that's the one that was confusing me!
