algorithmic modeling for Rhino

In an effort to gain better control over whats happening in the graph mapper is it possible to get access to the underlying equation of the different types of graphs?

For instance, when using the Powers graph type. what is the equation behind the graph? The icon for the graph type says x^y, but is that the actual equation? And what happens to that equation when the handle is relocated away from the default position?

Of course it is easy to understand how each graph is changing the input data but to have more precise control over the output has anyone figured out the equations behind the graph mappers visual interface?

Hi Patrick,

some graphs have equations of the form f(x), others do not. Perlin noise for example or Bezier curves cannot be written as f(x). In those cases the graph is defined algorithmically or geometrically.

Graph mappers need a major UI overhaul, but it will have to wait until we're well into version 0.9
