Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi I'm doing a solar radiation analysis of a city centre with GECO, there are many builings. And I just want to calcalate the red one( in pic),

but when I use the EcoSolCal component to do objects calculate, it calculate all the buildings.

I know that in Ecotect there is a "Only use selected objects" option, is there a way to do the same with GECO?

Because I'm going to do a revolutionary selection of the shape of the red building with GALAPAGOS later, so the form of it may change like hurderds of times, I certainly don't want to calculate the whole city centre everytime it changes, that will take too much time!

I would really appreciate if anyone could help me out. Thanks

To make it clear, my point is that all the buildings must be exported into Ecotect,(other wise there will be no interference) and calculate a selected one.

I've try some more.It seems that the time calculating all the buildings is equal to calculating the selected one ? is it that it actually calculate all of it, and just show the result/color of the selected one?If they both take so much time, then my question is meaningless.

Hi,

Due to a bug in Ecotect we can not set it directly.

So you have to go threw the process ones in ecotect to enable it and the same to disable it.

Make sure that you also activate it in our component.

best

Thank you~ sorry take too long to reply

Hi!

I believe I have the same problem, since I am calculating a building with a second skin for shading (which is heavy)- I attach a picture.

Since the file takes very long to run with exterior shading envelope, I would like to calculate the insolation only on the internal skin- a curtain wall, to compare values with and without parametric facade.

I don´t understand your answer, what do you mean with going through the process ones in ecotect to enable and disable it? does it mean that in geco I have to calculate insolation also on exterior envelope? if not, can I plugin just one of the geometries in the EcoSolCal button? I think it might be the ´3D´ plug, but I don´t know how to select an object in grasshopper.

thank you so much!
