algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I'm trying to create a diagrid structure for a tower design similar to the Hearst Tower in New York, except that I'm working on a faceted tower.
My tower:I am working off just the lower segment (with the pointy part), with the logic of referencing a brep, then contouring to retrieve the sections, then lofting it again to be able to use the diagrid component. However, somehow the lofting went wrong and the middle part seems to be twisted
Can someone help me with this definition? In addition, would there be a better logic in creating the diagrid structure on such a faceted building (that tapers up top?)
Thanks,
Joshua

Hi.
It's not difficult to solve Loft problem.
However, applying the diagrid pattern to the polysurface is not that simple and I'd like to say that you have chosen the wrong path.
How about creating a shape by eliminating parts from a large chunk of platonic solid of diagrid mass like Hearst Tower ?
Thanks so much Hyung Soo Kim!~ that's solved my problem perfectly! What do you mean by eliminating parts from a large chunk of platonic solid? Do you mean i should change the shape of the tower?
Simply, your way is a method of applying a diagrid pattern by forcing to turn a polysurface into a single surface.
Therefore, the pattern will not perfectly match to the original facet faces.
If you are satisfied with that, there's no more to discuss about it.
BTW, you'll not be able receive a good score from your tutor because there is no consistency in pattern application according to the shape.
In the case of Hearst Tower, you can see that the diagrid pattern is consistently applied to every facet faces.
