Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm really new to grasshopper and am looking for some guidance. I have searched the forum and online and can't find the exact answers to the question.

I want to transform openings in a surface in a gradation from the module on the left to the right. I'm assuming I do this with attactor points but does anyone have any good links to get me heading in the right direction?

This is a pretty simple way.

That's great! Thank you. How would I go about arranging in a grid such as this?

So, to be clear, you want the graduation to go, say from hexagons at the bottom to the 'flower' at the top?

That's correct. I think this will eventually also go onto a domed surface so that the hexagon is at the top and the flower at the bottom but I also need it just in a grid like the panel above.

Before I knock myself out, could you please specify what type of grid you're looking for... The one above is a diamond. Take a look at Vector->Grid to see what's available. The Lunchbox plugin provides other layouts, such as diamond.

I think if I understood a simple square or triangular grid it would help me tremendously.

How's this?

that's amazing! Thank you, that's exactly what I was needing.

any idea what's causing this error?

Could you upload your gh definition and also internalize the curves you are using? To internalize, right click on the curve inputs and look down the list for "internalize data". Thanks.

Here is the gh file with internalized curves.

One of the curve inputs was expecting the hexagon and the other your star curve. I should have been more explicit, you had them reversed. Also for some reason (units?) your curves were somewhere way out there so I took the liberty of bringing them back towards the origin, although that would not have affected the results
