Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how the zombie component is working. I only want to obtain the outputs from kangaroo to use it for Galapagos (in the end).

I am wondering if it is possible to create a mesh relaxation with the zombie component. I created a mesh with certain anchor points. When moving these anchor points downwards (to create a structural column) the output of the zombie component doesn't change, while the output of the normal kangaroo component shows the mesh relaxation.

Can anyone help?

Instead of moving the anchors themselves, what you could do is set some anchors in the target positions, and connect them to the vertices you want to move to those points with zero-rest-length springs.

Also, to do this in Kangaroo2, you can use the script from the CustomIteration example, which acts like the Zombie in K1. Attached is an example:

Thank you for the reply Daniel,

I installed Kangaroo 2, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. The solver works, but the script gives an error. I thought I had to combine the solver with the script, but I don't know how.

I am also wondering how I can obtain a mesh as output geometry of the script/solver. In kangaroo 1 there was a output parameter for this.

Hi Stefan,

This script creates its own solver internally, so there is no need to use the actual Solver component.

You need to set the location of the assembly reference (by right clicking the script component).

Make sure you choose the one in the location Grasshopper has loaded. This folder can be found from File>SpecialFolders>Components, and is typically something like: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries

Thank you Daniel! It's functioning now.

But I am still wondering how to obtain the output geometry as one mesh. I tried the following, but some parts of the mesh are 'missing'.

Is there another way to obtain the mesh geometry?

hi Stephan, I see this is an old post and it seems your question has gone unanswered, did you find a way to get a contiguous mesh from the kangaroo2 output?

hi,

would you please post the rhino file and grasshopper file for that script
