Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi I was wondering if anyone had any idea how to replicate a honeycomb smock in grasshopper.

Haven't got any idea where to even start so any advice would be appreciated.

Here is how a tutorial to the pattern.

End Result below:

Hi Chris,

I know it was a while ago you posted this but I have also been trying to figure out how to do this in grasshopper and it's proving rather difficult. Did you, by any chance, manage to work it out? If so, would you please mind sharing how you did this.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Bree

I never figured out how to do it in Kangaroo which was my initial goal. In the end I just faked it geometrically with nurbs curves and points. For memory the issue I ran into is in reality the fabric stretches slightly whilst provides resistance to bending if that makes sense. Couldn't find a way to make it work. I'm by no means an expert though so sure someone else can do it relatively easily

Sorry, hope you figure it out.

Thanks for replying so quickly Chris. I've also faked it in Rhino but really want to know how to do it in Grasshopper/kangaroo.  If anybody else could help me it would be great!
