Background panels and Comments in the canvas

Two noob questions here that I can't figure out. I'm trying to organize my work with demarcated areas of color and comments.

1. Is there a way to type directly onto the canvas to make comments that aren't in a panel, similar to comments in the Max visual programming environment for audio/video:

2. How do I make colored background panels like the ones in the images below?

1. Scribble component. You can use it by typing directly on the canvas "~Your text"

2. Select your components, press the mouse wheel and the green icon with tree points; or select your components and pressing Ctrl+G.
