Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Can you make it so that the definition viewscreen scrolls when you are click-dragging within a certain boundary of its edge? It would make connecting wires over long distances much easier. Currently, unless there is a better way that I am not aware of, I find that I have to zoom out far to be able to see both components and connect them or temporarily relocate one closer to the other to do it. It would also allow for more dynamic window selection, (i.e. drawing a box around components to select them,) which currently can exceed the bounds of the window, but cannot exceed the bounds of the screen. Perhaps it could work similarly to select MS products (Excel for instance) where the further you go past the initial boundary, the faster the screen scrolls.

Hi Shawn,

yes, it's a good idea. Haven't gotten around to it yet. In the meantime, here's what I usually do:

1) Start dragging a wire in 100% zoom
2) Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom out (don't let go of the left mouse button!)
3) Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in on the target object
4) Connect the wire.

I just added Autopanning to the Object Dragging and Wire Drawing interactions. You have to move the mouse cursor beyond the canvas edge for it to kick in. This will be available in the next release.
