Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

This is another test with agent based swarm behaviour. In this study the main focus was to trace the paths of each agent, these lines can then be used to generate paths of circulation or even architecture.
This study was inspired by previous work by "volatile prototypes".

jens,

the project looks amazing and very influential!

i would like to do a project with swarm behavior in grasshopper, however i can't construct the behavior. would you mind sending the component as well to give me a head start on understanding it?

thank you in advance.

Should I let you know how it turns out?

Its funny that you are mentioning Mike in this context, because I am currently doing my master's at Emtech which is the program which was in charge of the workshop you are talking about. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend, since I am doing my desertation at the moment.

But anyway as I said where the code is at now is only an intermediate step so its not done yet.

And I wouldn't mind sharing my work, but I would like if you would use it within these guidelines:

It seems like I cant attach the file to this comment, so would you mind leaving me your email so I can send it to you?

I would be interested in the .NET component if you are open to sharing.  It would be most interesting to see how Craig R. ideas can be implemented in a parametric environment such as GH.  I had seen the website you listed previously which sparked my initial interest in the idea.

Great work, I'm excited to see where this takes you.

I hope you are able to interface with Michael Weinstock at AA in London.  I'm sure he would be most interested in these ideas.  I met him when he visited CCA in SF.  His work is most remarkable.  Also, you may be interested in this workshop:

Thank you david.

The whole code is based on Craig Reynolds boid theory and some laws of attraction stuff, was that you were wondering about or would you like the VB comp it self? furthermore as I wrote the representation and so forth was inspired by this guy : http://www.volatileprototypes.com/there is some amazing work on his website.

When all that is said I still have some work to do on this code as it is, so this is only an intermediate result.

This is very exciting work.  I have been looking for swarm-based ideas in design for a while now, but have not seen too much in GH.  Can you reference the algorithms used for share the .NET component?  Keep up the good work!
