algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Demonstration of the upcoming Elevation Service component. The input to this component will be a set of WSG84 coordinates. The component queries the Google Elevation API and returns the coordinate's Elevation. Note, this is quite low resolution (like what you find in Google Earth) and often times does not serve as an accurate representation of the actual Elevation. There are holes in the data, and thus at times the data is interpolated. Nonetheless, for a quick understanding of the site terrain, it can be a helpful tool.

Def check the limitations...but still works for me.  I would not go too far above 2500 pts at a time...

Hey Luis,

I recently downloaded and installed the latest ghowl. I was going through your examples (specifically the "getTerrain" example) and ran into a similar problem that has been discussed in this thread already. However, the resolution of the previously mentioned problem  does not apply to me. Someone had posted an image similar to this one, on this thread (mine is lightly more artistic):

I am simply running your example file and having this issue. I tried to reverse the coordinates (x and y) however this did not help. The "get Elevation" component is taking data in but not out. At first it worked fine. At some point it stopped. I have re-installed/re-downloaded (ghowl and sample files from Food4Rhino)/re-opened. That does not seem to help. I noticed that it started happening after I downloaded google earth, so... I uninstalled google earth (nothing changed). However, I don't think ghowl is pulling anything from google earth, so don;t think that's the problem anyway. Internet is up and running. Do you know what the problem may be??? Your help is always appreciated, and thanks in advance.

How many values are you getting from the Elevation component?  How many points in xy?

Well, what is the error?  that would be the most helpful information of all since we have never discussed what the error on the SrfGrid component is.

Luis, thanks. I was just confirming the data was passing through the component to the other side for you. I tried u+1 to data match before messaging you last. No luck on that either. Let me know.

As the name suggests, GetElevation does indeed return Altitude.  In the SrfGrid component there is most likely a u+1 expression.

What expression is inside "SurffromPoints"? Get elevation appears to be pulling altitude.
