algorithmic modeling for Rhino

MESHWORKS workshop at NEXT INSTITUTE (BRNO)

The meshworks workshop will focus teaching basic principles in CAD and computational design with Rhino/Grasshopper and fabrication (CAM) of a full scale spatial installation utilizing lasercutted POM sheets.

The computational logic will be composed of form finding with the physics engine of Kangaroo and parametric component articulation. Complemented by this, the students will explore the capabilities of the material with study models and sketch component prototyping. Finally, the chosen student project will be prepared for fabrication, processed and assembled on site. The project outcome will be documented and published internationally.

Patrick Bedarf is a Berlin based architectural designer who likes to explore the blurring boundaries between our natural and artificial world.
He holds a diploma and master degree (TU Delft) with a specialization in computational architecture.

After gathering experience in the building industry internationally in offices such as Zaha Hadid (London), Delugan Meissl (Vienna) and Henn (Berlin, Beijing), he focuses on research in fabrication and informed material assemblies as well as interactive spatial installations.

He has co-tutored workshops in architectural schools in Europe (TU Delft, TU Cluj, BUT Brno, HTWK Leipzig) on the topics of computational design and digital fabrication.

Please note: Participants are obliged to bring their own laptop running Windows with pre-installed software (detailed information will be given after subscription). English will be the main language of the workshop.
