For this, the workshop will teach advanced digital design and fabrication techniques to explore a series of novel differentiating structural and environmental organizations in the redefinition of the São Paulo skyscraper.

r (top left) is connected with the list which contains the centroids of every triangle of my mesh (my canopy, that I turned into a series of triangular surfaces). In this part of the definition I evaluate the Z coordinates (extracted form the points).
I execute some operations in order to have my values from 0 to 1 (parametrization). Then I sutracted the lower value of the list to all the data. So I obtained a new list of numbers, which stay from 0 to 1 and I can use in order to determine a gradient in the arch openings.
The result? If you look carefully to the rendering I posted you'll see that the arches are less opened near the ground and more opened near the top. It's a structural way of design the canopy. The more loads you must support, the more closed your arches will be (and the more stronger you should be).
Anyway consider this part as not important, because this parameter is just a my interpretation, it's not essential in order to obtain the canopy I posted. If you want you can just substitute that emitter with a simple number, from 0 to 1. Don't know, try to put 0.4 as an imput and let's see what happens. The result will be more similar. ;-)

I have a list of "Intersections", the yellow vertical lines, usually four at each point the beams intersect (85 points or 340 intersections expected, though there are only 335).
What I'm trying to do is "get" the list of yellow vertical lines for each beam and keep them "associated", so that I can re-orient them with the thick beams in a flat, "nested" layout.
These intersections will appear in two sets of lists, one for beams "A" and another for beams "B".
I found and hacked a bit of C# script to partition the sorted list of indexes but not the related list of intersections ("Line-like Curves").
In this case, the data trees aren't working for me. I want "beam objects" with arbitrary properties, such as lists of intersections. Are there ways to do this "easily" in GH without resorting to C#, VB or Python?…
ich is the following :
"in a box", i would like to create structure made by wooden blades that follow floor, wall and ceiling, but moving from this support due to "curves" which are the most important variables.
Here is my "logic". You will find enclosed to this post my files as well.
In bold what i'm unable to do by myself (i guess) :
Take the square of 25 m x 12 m ; make it a surface
I divide it in "blades" of 20 cm
I take the edges of the "blades"
I divide this edges in 40 points (or equivalent) (A)
I identify my curves (curves) which are on the floors
I identify the crosspoint between my edge-blade and the curves (B)
I have to test the difference between X Y Z of each A and B.
I have to test which B point is the closest of each A
Each A points which is close to B (Distance < 40 cm) must be on the floor
I have to input a math formula in order to représent the movement of A points regarding their distance to B (example : A1 Z = Distance between A1 and B / 2)
If there are 2+ B, that mean that i have "to do something" to get a correct movement. I mean
2 consecutives points must be on the same "plan"
2 height difference between each point must be 0 or a dedicated value
Regarding Ceiling, it is a duplication of the floor but there is coef to apply with Z distance.
2 parallele points on a define axis, example : X, and consecutive can't have more than 20cm of difference
When all points have moves regarding "parameters" and "curves"; i have to do curve linking all the point of a same "line".
After that i duplicate this curve to a upper curve.

fear that it would be too hard, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not that bad, even for a C# novice. I am attaching the *.cs files for three components:
SerialCreate component creates the serial port instance. This component controls port parameters and opens/closes the port. (It won't close the port, however.) SerialWrite and Read try to interact with the port created by SerialCreate. I can verify that the port opens because it's unavailable to other terminal applications, but if I try to close the port, it won't...it stays open until I restart Rhino. SerialWrite works, because I can see the rx light on my device light up when I enter text in grasshopper. SerialRead does not work. I blue screen with a DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION.
All in all, not too bad for a day's work. I'll forget the user objects and go for custom components. The question that still remains is that I don't think I'm correctly or efficiently sharing the serial port instance with the other classes. Again, this is just a hack, but I'm happy I'm closer to solving the problem (or so it seems). If anyone has any ideas about how to better go about this, I'd appreciate any suggestions.

pproach of estimating wind loads using design codes such as ASCE7-05.
B) Hiring a wind expert to construct a physical model and and calculate wind pressures measured directly from a wind tunnel test.
A) will allow you to derive a site specific wind design pressure based on the height of the building, surface roughness, site location etc. Typically you then multiply this pressure by an appropriate co-efficent in the code for a given building shape.
The other atypical method it to use numerical approaches such as CFD. This approach is not yet accepted due to nuances such as of surface roughness.
Building deflection is again subjective. Doing a modal analysis and getting an idea of the frequency is better. You can increase the frequency by playing about with the building stiffness.
You need to modify the stiffness of the building to get the deflection down. i.e. play about with geometry, add extra members with stiffness, reduce weight, use material with higher elastic modulus etc
If you are getting a 7m deflection for a 400m building then I can right away that is way too soft. That is equivalent to 400m/7m or H/57. You want to be at least H/500 to H/1000 so aim for 80 to 40 mm.
Your wind load seems reasonable at 87 psf for that height of building

In this case it will be between position 86 and 87 where the x value of a point jumps from 2.32... to -6.04... (see inside red rectangle @ attached image).
Idea so far is:
1) Decompose the list into x,y,z
2) get just the x values in one list
3) compare all values in a kind loop.
4) if value difference is more that let's say 1.0 - get the index
5) split list at that index.
My question: How to do that without looping?
I would be very thankful is someone could give me a hint.
