Sunpath component. This is what I essentially did in the upper photo of my hometown's mask. For now this is working only for metric units. I will make sure that for the next release at least feets are supported as well.As for the saving of the time: try increasing the maxVisibilityRadius_ to say 300. Depending on your PC configuration and internet speed it may take as long as 15 minutes for the component to run. The topography file will first be downloaded from opentopography.org. That's the .tif file you noticed. Once the mask is created it will be saved to an .obj file. The next time you run it the mask will be imported from the .obj file, skipping the previous 15 minutes:
It still may take a a couple of minutes (depending on your PC configuration) for the component to complete loading of the mask. The reason why is: the mask needs to be scaled and centered according to the context_ input. Also the next time a user decides to change the maskStyle_ input or context_ input, the topography data will not be downloaded from the opentopography.org website, but rather created from the .tif file. For default maximalVisibility_ of 100, these .tif files are mostly a couple of megabytes, which is not that much of a burden on user's hard drive space. On the other hand keeping these .tif files on user's hard drive helps saving the opentopography bandwidth cap.Let me know if I can answer any further detail or if this one hasn't been clear.Hi Chris,
Thank you too. Please provide the following data:
1) Zip the "terrain shading mask libraries 32-bit" folder in "c:\ladybug" in case you have x86 version of Rhino 5, or "terrain shading mask libraries 64-bit" folder in case you have the 64 bit version of Rhino 5. Upload the zipped folder, and post the link in here, please.Zip the whole folder, not its content only.
2) What is the full name of the GDAL libraries .zip file that you downloaded? What is your Windows version and Rhino 5 version?
On genDayMtx.exe and install of the GDAL libraries: I am reluctant to avoid manual install due to blocking issue. Copying two folders manually is quite a small price to pay in comparison with finding the blocked library among tens of them.…
I change paramenters in GH sliders I see the progress in rhino with 4/5 seconds lag.
I think it is not an hardware issue, this is my configuration
Mainboard SuperMicro
Dual CPU Xeon x5650 (24 total core)
12GB DDRIII ECC
Hdd velociraptor 300Gb
Vga Nvidia Quadro FX3800
Hi, I attach the project files; when I move the slider bubbles trying to slide from a little value to another (like 50, 120, ecc) the result on screen is slowly to be shown. My question is, with the pc configuration listed above, is it normal with this project? There are parameters I can set in Grasshopper or Rhino to have faster results? There's a specific driver or configuration for my video card to improve performance?I would be very interested to see if the hardware on my system allows optimal performance with grasshopper or is normal with a definition so short ,even if it is the Voronoi , the system so slow to refresh when I move the slider
Thank you for your time…
you post a screenshot of what the message coming from its readMe! output looks like?2) Close your Grasshopper and Rhino.3) Download "Revo Uninstaller Pro" from here. It is free for first 30 days, which is what we need.4) Right click on the RevoUninProSetup.exe and check if the file is blocked. If it is, unblock it.5) Run the RevoUninProSetup.exe file and install "Revo Uninstaller Pro".6) Uninstall "MapWinGIS" with "Revo Uninstaller Pro". It is important that "Revo Uninstaller Pro" deletes not only files from MapWinGIS installation folder, but also all other leftovers (as registry inputs). Here is a small tutorial on how to do that. Watch it from 6:10 till the end.7) Restart your PC8) When your Windows boots up, make sure that you are logged in as Administrator!9) In your Start menu's search box type: "UAC", which will find your User Account Control Settings. Click on it, and a new window will open. Set the bar on the left to "Never notify".10) Turn off your Windows Firewall.11) Then turn off your custom Firewall (in case you have another one, besides standard Windows Firewall).12) Completely turn off your Antivirus.13) Download again the MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.4.2-x64.exe.exe file from here.14) Right click on the MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.4.2-x64.exe file and see if it is blocked. If it is, unblock it.15) Right click on MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.4.2-x64.exe file and choose: "Run as"... Administrator.16) One the installation preparation steps start, choose "Full installation". Wait for the MapWinGIS installation to finish.17) Right-click on "Rhino 5" icon and then choose: "Run as administrator".18) Open the the ironpython_admin.gh file again, and again post a screenshot of the message coming from its readMe! output.19) Drop the "Gismo Gismo" component to Grasshopper canvas. Post a screenshot of the message coming out from its readMe! output.
So we will need in total three screenshots of the readMe! output messages.
Thank you once again for being patient, and sorry for the large number of steps.…

supplied _values of _keys" notice.I tried running the "OSM 3D" component first with groundTerrain_ input. As I did not get the upper notice message, I closed down the whole Rhino so that I cut the waiting time. Then I tried running it without the groundTerrain_ input, and in some 15 minutes I got the following buildings:
I think I may understand what was causing the problem: when one takes large radii, it covers large areas, and with this area comes large number of information (keys and values). You can get hundreds of keys (or thousands). What can happen is that: these hundreds of keys, can exceed shapefile's capacity to story keys. So basically in case of radius 750 meters your "height" or "buildings:levels" keys somehow slipped beyond this allowable capacity. In case of 800 meters they were somehow allowed to enter (a bit bad term sorry) before the allowable capacity is reached. This depends on the number of keys named with letters which precede the "h" and "b".The best way to solve this issue is to know which data do you actually need, and use the "OSM Keys" component to generate the list of needed keys. In this way, only those keys that you need will be used, others will be disregarded. You do not even have to use the "OSM Keys" component if you know which specific keys you exactly need. Check the attached file below. I grouped the "OSM Keys" solution as "a" and a custom defined list of keys as "b".
2) The component running time might now be cut with picked "requiredKeys_" input I mentioned at the end the previous 1) part.
3) "OSM 3D" component's "randomHeightRange_" input is suppose to do exactly that: to randomly create 3d buildings (or 3d trees) when there are no valid "height" or "buildings:levels" tags.I have just changed one line the "OSM shapes" component code.I wonder if it would make any problem on your PC.Please let me know if LocationGrabber03_Gismo2.gh file works.…

surface which are fully inside it(each cell's area should be 100% inside surface).
Idea how to do this:
Use Surface|Curve to cut the grid of cells to the surface --->
---> Area to get centroids of those cells --->
---> Dispatch using as pattern distances of cells' centroids from polyline to have in one of list those that are fully within the surface --->
---> Dispatch using as pattern distances of cells' centroids from curves (that defy holes) to have in one of list those that are fully within the surface
Problem:
Cannot use Area to extract centroids. Ironically, when I click on the Area button is shows me centroids of all of cells that are fully inside surface but button is red so I cannot progress.
I tried using Split Surface too (instead of Surface|Curve) but it crashed my PC, even after flattening input data.
I'm a newbie and looked for answer but did not manage to find topic that would relate to my problem. Maybe I formulate my questions in wrong way.

ents (e.g. only fabric between 2 radial cable). But if I try to simulate a completely whole structure like picture below + if I trying to model a material that has more degree subdivision + adding diagonals (as resistance to shear deformation which causes the creases like Daniel Pikels example of tablecloth drop), then I have huge problem to deal with my hardware.
(I am using Intel Xeon 4 cores, 2.93GHz with 4GB RAM and running in Win7 in 64 bit but with Rhino 32 bit.)
(Roof geometry can be completely asymmetrical, so let’s assuming that we can’t array the resulting geometries!)
There are some discussions about how to increase the processing power of grasshopper:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/performance-of-grasshopper?
http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/grasshopper-cpu-optimization
As I know that the GH is single threaded, we could over clocking the CPU + give lot of RAM.
I am curious if Kangaroo and other Apps are following the same performance-rule (single thread) like Rhino/ G.H? And what would be the key-feature to increase the power of Rhino/GH/Kangaroo in order to process the case I mentioned before (completely retractable roof)?
- Which level of CPU? Or constraint of CPU over clocking when necessary and capacity of RAM)
- How fine tuning my PC for best performance? (Parallel computing, c-flex…)
- is GPU a matter? (E.g. in Animation standard: Nvidia CUDA Quadro 4000+)
Or probably just a suggestion of workstation ;-)
Sorry I am not expertise of computer technical…
Thanks!…

dy for a wall where we want to analyze its openings. I made a parametric wall that then get's analyzed with different geometries and the idea was just to leave it there for the weekend as it morphed through different iterations. However, after successfully running a test simulation on my pc (just with one iteration), it fails to run the same test on the workplace computer. Any help would be greatly apprecated! Here is the following error:
Sorry! But the number of available CPUs on your machine is 4.
Honeybee set the number of CPUs to 4.
Grid-based Radiance simulation
The component is checking ad, as, ar and aa values. This is just to make sure that the results are accurate enough.
Good to go!
