mponents. At Terrain Generator 2 component, the "origin_" input and "originPt" output represent a point of the terrain. So the terrain surface or mesh will be created starting from that spot, where that spot is actually lying on the very terrain.I noticed that this is not the case with "_basePoint" input of Terrain Generator component. In that case, in order for it to be able to use the Terrain Analysis component, one has to project the "_basePoint" to terrain mesh/surface.
We tried to fix the WebClient class issue with Mostapha and Chris last year, but without success. Eventually I will have to buy a new PC and install a newer operating system, which will remove the issue. Until then I will not be able to test some of other people's component's which use this class.I apologize if this is causing you any inconvenience.…
ead of "Terrain Generator 2" component. It will extract the elevation data from Google earth instead of Opentopography. The elevation data is different though, as they use different sources.By the way: I am already in love with the Karya project!!! It seems like a very interesting topic, and a perfect example of how environmental and computational aspects of design should be merged!I will definitely check the blog to read the new information about it, once in a while…
a machine that is light and very sturdy. I have taken my Macbook Pro all around the world, carry it with me every day, even dropped it a few times and its still totally fine. Its thin and light.
2) You get some actual support for your hardware even a few years down the line. My Macbook Pro is from 2012 and I can still walk in to any Apple Store and get help with it, which I have done many, many times in different places around the world - I never had to show a receipt or was charged any money for help. There is no PC/Laptop manufacturer in the world with anything close to that, because companies like Asus, Dell, etc. bring out dozens of new versions of laptops every year, so its much harder to service them after a few years.
3) This is the most important one, which usually people forget when they say that Macbooks are overpriced: Resale Value. If you have ever tried to sell an old PC/Laptop (I have a few times), you will know how little value they have even after just 2-3 years. Macbooks retain their value very well and even after 4 years you can still get 50% of your original price.
4) Of course you can install Windows on it and it runs perfectly. I have MacOS and Windows on it and both run absolutely fine. On the Windows side I have Rhino+GH, Maya and a few others. Having Windows is good, because some software still only runs on Windows (looking at you, 3DSMax!). Most other software also runs on MacOS. In the interest of sanity it is great to have an alternative to Windows for all the day to day stuff, like Mail, Calender, Photos, Presentations, etc. that just always works.
5) As for performance: Yes, Macbook Pros dont necessarily have the latest and greatest in graphics cards (the rest is on par with PC laptops), but unless you want to play games you will not need it. VRay RT can do GPU rendering, but you wont get great performance from a Notebook GPU anyways and it doesnt make sense to do rendering on a laptop (especially since you have a workstation). You could get one of the older Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 or Mid 2014 models with the GTX750M by Nvidia, which will be usable to render using VRay RT, but of course not huge performance. Better to invest in a good used graphics card for your workstation like an Nvdia GTX980ti, which is the best value for money for GPU rendering right now (lots of used ones available).
So at least consider also getting a Macbook Pro. You can buy refurbished models (depending where you are) and they are like new, but a lot cheaper or even get an older one thats used. It will be a worthwile investment.
Take it from someone who has used dozens of PCs and Macs in my lifetime and have to do the IT support here at work (where we also use both).
I still have my Macbook Pro Retina from 2012 and its still running perfectly, super fast, and I can use Rhino and GH for huge files, do GPU Rendering with Octane Render and all sorts of other heavy computing stuff.
Hope that helps.…

tant (if you don't change them manually).
First thing you should clarify is, what features of the sound you want to visualize/use. Like Level(Volume), Frequency content, whatever... The raw input data as it comes form the soundcard is giant blob of mostly noise. To smoothen it, usually means filtering out high frequency compnents. Typically this also results in slower samplerates.
GH isn't meant to be a real-time audio processor. It's single threaded, so GH uses only one of my availabe 8 cores. Most of GH's data management would be avoided in an audio environment. Moving data from one component to the next will take some time. This is why I suggested to do all the data manipulation within a single script component. Like Andy already said, for one second of mono sound, the capture component will return 22k samples(points). (Which already is half the data rate of CD Audio.) So basically everything you do with sound in GH is likely to freeze your PC.
On my PC, making a point for each sample in 1 second of captured sound and interpolating a curve though them already takes about 0.6 seconds. No smoothing, no nothing... no chance for real time.…
t to work. I was getting an error message on the OSMshapes components. I searched the forums and followed these steps:Close your Grasshopper and Rhino.2) Restart your PC3) When it boots up again, in your Start menu's search box type: "UAC". Click on it, and a new User Account Control Settings window will open. Set the bar on the left to "Never notify".4) Completely turn off your Antivirus.5) Check once again if your access control to the C:\MapWinGIS_installation_folder\gdal-data\osmconf.ini file is still set to the values you previously reported in this post.6) Right-click on "Rhino 5" icon and then choose: "Run as administrator".7) When Rhino boots up, run Grasshopper, and open the newest create_3dbuildings_trees_streets.gh file from here. This got the script to work and eliminated all of the error messages. The thing is... The omsconfig file's settings switch back after a some time passes, so I have to keep going back to change them. Also If I don't right click on rhino and choose "open as an adminstrator" the script won't work. I'll get those same error messages when I open Rhino normally. I'm also not super comfortable turning off my antivirus software during the time that I am working. Are there more permanant solutions that I can employ without going through these steps every time?
Thanks,
Robert…
o that (click on 'Download' button, to start download of the video). However, your 1.png shows a bigger problem: Gismo is unable to download required OSM data, because something is blocking its request. Do you have Administrator rights on your PC/laptop where Gismo is installed? Some time ago we had a user with a similar problem, and he solved it by contacting the IT department and asking them to unblock the "tcp port 9090". Maybe you can try to do the same?

ions! == fantastic.
1. When at begin = false mode > (a) you can now see things and (b) you can reduce your panels (prior the interactive massacre,i.e. begin = true) based on the famous algo of mine as written in this top secret (C)(tm) function:
MassacreOnList(sListSorted, pC, CofCPanelDist) : in Plain English:: take no prisoners.
2. make a break > buy a book (you know what kind) > learn things > sky is the limit (in fact events/delegates is the limit - nasty stuff).
3. in order to get your def (the complete thing) YOU MUST post here a hymn (original, lyrical and passionate) related with the ultimate thing: my Panigale 1199.

bug. Have I missed the solution or is it something that you haven't been able to replicate?
I have been using Rhino 4 ever since at work but am able to use Rhino 5 at home with the same operating system (nearly Pro vs. Home Vista)
Any insight would be appreciated.
thanks
Danny
