The measure Entropy is newer. I hereby explain it (from my PhD dissertation):
Entropy values, as described in (Hillier & Hanson, The Social Logic of Space, 1984) and specified in (Turner A. , “Depthmap: A Program to Perform Visibility Graph Analysis, 2007), intuitively describe the difficulty of getting to other spaces from a certain space. In other words, the higher the entropy value, the more difficult it is to reach other spaces from that space and vice-versa. We compute the spatial entropy of the node as using the point depth set:
(11)
“The term is the maximum depth from vertex and is the frequency of point depth *d* from the vertex” (ibid). Technically, we compute it using the function below, which itself uses some outputs and by-products from previous calculations:
Algorithm 4: Entropy Computation
Given the graph (adjacency lists), Depths as List of List of integer, DepthMap as Dictionary of integer
Initialize Entropies as List(double)
For node as integer in range [0, |V|)
integer How_Many_of_D=0
double S_node=0
For depth as integer in range [1, Depths[node].Max()]
How_Many_of_D=DepthMap.Branch[(node,depth)].Count
double frequency= How_Many_of_D/|V|
S_node = S_node - frequency * Math.Log(frequency, 2)
Next
Entropies [node] = S_node

alapagos generates when it tries to minimize the bending moment. I ran the optimization several times and every time, the solution is a bit different (figures below). Is this normal if you have relative many variables? I have 11 sliders which Galapagos can vary.
I start everytime with the same settings and start points.
Or is it possible to get the same answer everytime? That would be nice for my model.
Again, Thanks!

rting planar surface is a highly irregular one with 11 curves, and 12 points I'm using as anchors. As a result the mesh work I am generating with weaverbird is a mess and the whole structure looks incredibly unrefined. I've been trying to track down some good information on smoothing, equalizing and conformalizing techniques but haven't found any. I've seen demo videos but no accompanying definitions and I am very new to the kangaroo engine so working it out by trial and error is getting me further away from a solution.I've attached some examples of the design work I'm going for since I want to achieve a similar modular component to build the structure out of and hence need to fix this mesh problem.
It'd be great to have this sorted over the weekend, but figuring this out in general would be awesome.Cheers.

by joining 2 Breps, each of which is a Loft surface made from 11 plane curves rotated by different amounts. The first BRep looks like this
and the second one is the same geometry, but with the curve rotations reversed (x * (-1)):
Apparently performing the curve rotation using reversed values causes the resulting surface normals to be reversed also. I've tried numerous methods (including mesh operations) to reverse them back, but nothing seems to actually do that. So I am hoping that someone here can point me in the direction of how to do this successfully.
My overall objective is to print parts that look like the old fashioned faceted cut glass bowls and trays.

r [String Split] in version 0.9.0014)
The [Timer] prompts a component to up date at the set interval. in this case every 1 seconds.
The [Time] param is a placeholder for a time in the same way that a [Number] param can hold real numbers.
By using "Now" as the input to the [Time] param you will get the current time when the param updates. therefore every second it resets to the current time.
The [Text Split] is there to separate the output of [Time] in a string format at every colon ":"
Therefore "Monday, 13-MAY-2013 (11:23:30)" would become:
0 Monday, 13-MAY-2013 (1
1 23
2 30)
The next two components use this to convert it into the current seconds. Because we are after the last item "30)" we can use [List Item] on a reversed list to get the last item.
Now we have to remove the ")" with [Replace String] but we are replacing it with nothing so it disappears.
The Arrow is part of the Sketch Tool Functionality of the canvas.
Lastly the 3 different inputs should go into the three different Inputs of the [Stream Filter]

long as the component runs, the list gets generated (screenshot below). It's based on a process explained by James Ramsden here.
However, the list is only generated after all inputs are defined, so for components that have certain inputs without default values, the user has to set these inputs before the list gets generated. Is there any way to force the component to generate the list even before the component has been given all input values? Here is sample code for the issue; the list is only generated after input1 has been defined:
using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using Grasshopper.Kernel; using Rhino.Geometry; using System.Drawing; namespace IntraLattice { public class MyComponent1 : GH_Component { GH_Document GrasshopperDocument; IGH_Component Component; public MyComponent1() : base("MyComponent1", "Nickname", "Description", "Category", "Subcategory") { } protected override void RegisterInputParams(GH_Component.GH_InputParamManager pManager) { pManager.AddLineParameter("Input1", "Input1", "An input", GH_ParamAccess.list); pManager.AddIntegerParameter("Input2", "Input2", "The list selection input", GH_ParamAccess.item, 0); } protected override void RegisterOutputParams(GH_Component.GH_OutputParamManager pManager) { pManager.AddLineParameter("Output", "Output", "Dummy output", GH_ParamAccess.item); } protected override void SolveInstance(IGH_DataAccess DA) { // 0.
