This course aims to develop a link between the virtual and the real context model through structural or environmental simulations, using other software or plug-ins dedicated. Through this link the virtual model receives physical properties that can further modify and adapt the initial model. This creates feedback loops that can optimize the design to provide an object responsive to environmental conditions.

Physical environment feedback with Diva and Geco, solar and day lighting analysis
Adding physical properties with Kangaroo Physics, interactive form-finding
Linking the parametric model with structural analysis using Karamba, structural performance simulation
Extracting data with Firefly and Kinect, 3D scanning and human movement tracking
Exchange of information between Grasshopper and other applications with Ghowl links to internet feeds or Excel files.

teraction for its Correlations cycle, AA Athens Visiting School scales up its design intentions in order to investigate links among discrete individual architectural systems in its 2013 version, Recharged.
Recharged with interconnectivity on different levels, the theme of investigation will revolve around the design of semi-independent design prototypes acting together to form elaborate unified results. The driving force in Cipher City: Recharged is the synergistic effect behind complex form-making systems where interactive design patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple rules.
In collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, Cipher City: Recharged will explore participatory design and active engagement modeling and will continue building novel prototypes upon horizontal planes.
As in 2012, the design agendas of AA Athens and AA Istanbul Visiting Schools will directly create feedback on one another, allowing participation in either one or both Programmes.
Discounts
The AA offers several discount options for participants wishing to apply as a group or participants wishing to apply for both AA Istanbul and AA Athens Visiting Schools:
1. Standard application
The AA Visiting School requires a fee of £695 per participant, which includes a £60 Visiting Membership. If you are already a member, the total fee will be reduced automatically by £60 by the online payment system. Fees are non refundable.
2. Group registration
For group applications, there will be a range of discounts depending on the number of people in the group. The discounted fee will be applied to each individual in the group.
Type A. 3-6 people group: £60 (AA Membership fee) + 635*0.75 = £536.25 (25 %) Type B. 6-15 people group: £60 + 635*0.70 = £504.5 (30%) Type C. more than 15 people group: £60 + 635*0.65 = £472.75 (35%)
3. Participants attending both AA Istanbul and AA Athens | 40% discount
For people wishing to attend both AA Istanbul 2013 and AA Athens 2013, a discount of 40% will be made for each participant. (The participant will pay the £60 membership fee only once.)

CONSTRUCTING FOR UNCERTAINTY
Design and construction, increasingly more information-centric, must also address issues of computational ambiguity. As users, we must drive computational systems to assume new roles and subsume more domains to meet the needs before us. We must consider issues of time and permanence within a cultural and technological landscape of constant change - our most grand gestures will define our environment physically, culturally and economically for generations.
Where historic responses to uncertainty constructed a simplistic environment with basic mechanisms for aggregation and subdivision, we augment these with smart, dynamic and interactive systems. Where modeling capacity has been limited, we now take advantage of vast amounts of data collected by sensing and scanning devices, processed by cluster or grid computing, filtered by machine learning algorithms into patterns, and communicated by ubiquitous devices. Our past data trajectories can guide us in discovering robust and tolerant design systems to meet the demands of a malleable present and uncertain future.

ith the installer) had been referencing the older Kinect SDK v1.5. However, the latest SDK version is 1.6 and if you were using the latest build, then the Kinect components would not work properly. I have now referenced the latest SDK and re-uploaded the installer with this latest build. If you're using the Kinect SDK 1.6 and had previously downloaded the latest Firefly build for Rhino 5.0 (64-bit), I would recommend re-installing this new version (I just uploaded the latest installer Feb 10th, 2013 at 6:50pm EST). Sorry again for all of the confusion and thanks for your patience as I iron out some of these bugs.
